Overwatch Defines Diversity

User Rating: 9 | Overwatch (Origins Edition) PS4

From life-long gamer's to new generations, Blizzard has shaken the community in their efforts to connect with unique individuals; LGBT and autistic children alike have realized the world could always use more hero’s, Overwatch became just that. A colorful team-based shooter set in the near future of Earth--with no real introduction to the characters you play as—you must dive deeper on your own terms to discover more about them.

Blizzard Entertainment Inc. Jeffrey Kaplan, Chris Metzen, and Aaron Keller are the directors of Overwatch. Receiving plenty of fan mail I'm sure it’s hard to say who they pick and choose to respond to, however it looks as though the mystery revolving around one main character, Symmetra, was unveiled. After two brothers—one with autism—wrote to Mr. Kaplan he official stated that she is indeed an autistic character. Although Overwatch is known for their diversity amongst the characters they truly do reach out to the public with their comics relating to backstories. Another instance would be Tracer, the cover girl for Overwatch is a part of the LGBT community and has a female lover. So far about ten of the twenty-four characters have comics, each one more informative than the last. These comics help support you as you play your favorite character knowing that they too are like you in some way shape or form; their world is not so different from our own. A highly-recommended game to those who enjoy an immersive first-person shooter.
