Swords, blood, zombies, bikinis...and boredom?!

Onechanbara is possibly one of the worst videogames I have played. So not a good start to this review then.

The game is a linear, third person hack and slash affair that see's you taking control of the 'bikini samurai babe's' as they run and jump awkwardly around bland, unrealistic environments such as city streets, graveyards and hospitals, chopping up hordes of uninteresting undead enemies in a shower of claret.

The actual idea of the game should be great- attractive samurai girls with big swords slicing and dicing a zombie horde- but it fails to deliever in every way. The action swiftly becomes a repetitive dirge, and is occasionaly broken up with even worse levels that see your samurai babe riding a motorbike back and forth whilst being jumped at by zombie-dog-monster-things. The boss battles are also equally unimaginative and forgettable.

The game attempts to offer some sort of incentive by rewarding additional customisable clothing in the 'dress-up' mode, but after a couple of minutes dressing up my samurai babe I felt...well, slightly dirty and wrong. It reminds me of videogaming past when having jiggling boobs in fighting games was headline grabbing news.

Every aspect of Onechanbara feels unfinished and uninspired. I find it hard to imagine a team of game developers really caring about this project if the resulting finished product is anything to go by.

Onechanbara is a terrible game and I warn you not to spend your hard earned money on any of the games. Fortunately for me, I got my copy for free. Thank goodness.
