Munch's Oddysey for the XBOX was a quriky platformer-like game. Now, the makers of that same game have come together for Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. While definately not a a platformer, it balances exceptional gameplay with great graphics and a unique, interesting story-line. Stranger's Wrath combines both a FPS mode and a third person mode. During the first half of this game, you will combine these two quite alot, and it works flawlessly. The latter half of the game will become FPS focused and become action oriented. Also, the crossbow(your only weapon) uses live ammo. This is quirky twist that adds strategy and the ammo is funny to listen to. The ammo will make comments if nothing goes on for a short time. While this is alot of fun, they should have incorporated more 3rd person into it. The graphics in the game are great and the cut-scenes are dazzling. All the characters animate with smooth, fluid motion. Each type of character has their own animations which is pretty cool. The soundwork is great, but the same voice is used for each of those characters. The clakkerz all talk the same, the grubbs talk the same, and even the bosses have very similar voices. Stranger truly shines, as his voice is delivered with a low, rumbling western voice. The ammo again is a humorous addition to the game. The game lasts a solid 15 hours, which is great for an action game. There isn't much replay value here, though. When all is said and done, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is a breath of fresh air to the XBOX's roster. The unique story, characters, and superbly balanced gameplay, this is a must-play for anyone looking for a terrific action experience.
