So good you can bust a TV over it.

User Rating: 9.3 | Ninja Ryuukenden II: Ankoku no Jashinken NES
This games packs the same punch the first game in the series did, it improved the formula without losing much in the process. Ninja Gaiden II: Dark Sword of Chaos was a very anticipated game, when it finally was available for the public I don’t think It failed to amaze every fan of the original.

The simple game play that we had in the original game is available again with a few improvements. This improvements come in the form of two new power ups and the much debated ability to climb walls, instead of doing a quick jump. Of the two new power ups the ghost ninjas are the best, and a must for any and all bosses, on the other hand, I can’t say that the downward fire ball was all that helpful, I rarely used it. I must applaud the way that NGII comes together along with the graphics and sound, to make a superb experience that falls just short of being perfect for the gamer. This game as the original is hard, but I do think it is a little bit easier than the first.

Back then NGI introduced a whole new dimension to the production of video games when it presented the story of the game in the form of a movie, in NGII this very form is improved. I think what everybody will remember the most is the introduction to the game, which featured a new foe named Ashtar. Along with great bits from the story the game had very different levels, which were unique and had very good and different graphics.

The game allows you to enjoy different music for the different levels, adding to the gameplay and graphics mix. Even though the music score isn’t superb or memorable, it sets the right tone for the situation and the level you are playing through.

As I have mentioned earlier this game is hard and can get frustrating at times, but it’s simplicity will allow you to enjoy the game for several play thoroughs, plus you will want to revisit it several years from now. It is a good pick’em up game with the only problem being that there are no saves or passwords, you have to play through it all from the beginning. Just so you remember this game is hard.

This game deserves all the hype and recognition, it is well up there with the original NG game. On a personal note and as I stated before I busted a TV from playing this game for close to 30 hours straight, instead of powering off my NES I just got another TV and continued.
