Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is simply amazing. If you have a PS3, make sure you check out this game.
This game tells the tale about a boy who goes in a journey to another world, and it is a tale you will want to live until the very end. The world is huge with plenty to fight, collect and explore. Travelling from one place to another is pretty enjoyable, thanks to the fact that enemies roam the overworld and will only engage you in combat upon contact.
The fighting mechanics are pretty good, even though defending enemies' attacks can be a little tricky once you have more party members. You can run freely through the battlefield, cast spells, use items, command your party and attack enemies with simple controls. You can also raise "familiars", monsters tamed in battle to fight for you, although you share your HP and MP with them. There is a great variety of familiars, abilities, alchemy recipes, and spells for you to master, and lots of side quests and optional fights, so even after you beat the game, there is plenty to do, if you think the 30-40 hours long main quest wasn't enough.
The story is also great, much deeper than many would expect, and will probably end with you wishing for more. Characters are charismatic each having a unique personality, and each place you visit is completely different from others, so you will hardly have the sensation of "Already been here, already did that". The beautiful soundtrack captures the feelings of each situation and fits in perfectly all the time it's playing through your journey.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is not just for RPG fans, but for anyone who likes a balance between great gameplay, and an amazing story. It is really a masterpiece.
