An amazing game with a few major flaws, but still a definate must.

Being a huge hockey fan this is one of my favorite and most played game. Originally playing this on the PC I couldn't help but be a little dissapointed with the PSP version. The first thing I noticed was the HUGE loading times, which can put you off some aspects of the game that make it more fun. Then getting in a game I noticed the commentry was a bit off que, hearing the action a few seconds after you see it and odd pauses while the right name is loaded, which takes a little of the atmosphere out of the game.

However, despite this I still love this game and when you take the time to really play this you can see that the pros outway the cons. The gameplay is great and you can really feel the big hits and love the beautiful goals and honestly if all else fails you can enjoy just skating around in circles. It's sad to see the 'spin-o-rama' missing in the PSP version but it's a small price to pay.

When this game is compared to other ice hockey games available for the PSP, such as Wayne Gretzky's NHL, the graphics are sublime and a treat to look at and you can see the puck and the players' stick clearly. You'll definatly love seeing the boards rattle with a big hit or the glass smash with a hard shot.

There are numerous features for this game too, like; the shoot-out mini game which puts you against the goalie taking shots at him; dynasty mode, which puts you in the GM's place and lets you be responsible for your favorite club, wining points to upgrade your players and staff. Also it will let you continue after the first stanley cup whereas regular 'season mode' does not (I found that out the hard way ¬.¬). My favorite feature, though, has the be the online play, which gives you free rooster updates and more importantly you can play people from around the world, which adds more excitement and desperation to the game. The online play has a ranking system feature so you're not getting your butt kicked by people a lot more experianced than yourself. The downside is that there can sometimes be frustrating connectivity problems but once in the game it's as fun as anything.

Overall this game is a must for sports fans and non-sports fans alike, this game can have you playing for hours (and not just because of the loading times) at a time. Giving you a great gameing experience. It's flaws are not easy to ignore but can be forgiven when you start playing and really appreciate it for all it's glory. This game is great to just pick up and play, and the best hockey series on any platform by far.
