A long time player's review.

User Rating: 6.9 | Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds PC

My history with the game:
I began playing this game at about early 7th grade with a few friends and now I’m a sophomore in college. Back when there was only a few thundered people who played the community was closely nit and the people running the game were very active and lent a helping hand, people would merely have to shout "ARCHON" and they would shortly be there. I must say I’ve had some very fond memories with this game.

Characters:
If you register you get 4 characters on your account. You get to be male or female. You get a choice of being born in Buya or Kugnae, but once you're of higher levels and have the resources you can move to 4 other places. There are 4 shrines of gods you can worship. There are 4 paths, warrior, mage, poet, and rogue. With all of them having 3 PC subpaths, which means people run them, and 1 NPC subpath, which is the easiest to join, and means of course run by an NPC.

Leveling:
Leveling if you know what you're doing, or if you have a good mentor to guide you is extremely easy. Like in all games leveling at the beginning is very, very easy and it is not until around the 60 and over levels does it become remotely troublesome. Once you get your first character to 99, the others are a much shorter journey, now that you have a high level character to fund your low level's expenses.

How you should look at this game:
Instead of looking at this game as if it was about leveling and gaining stats, you should more look at it as an upgraded chat room. The community is very closely knit and most often spend there time chatting amongst the city walls. If you enjoy role-play then nexus is just the place for you. If you're looking for great graphics I should say you will not find them here, but there is something nostalgic about it, something that reminds you of super Nintendo and those long rainy days playing RPGs.

Justice system:
If you were looking to do what ever you please and disregard everyone else, I think you would not fit in but for the exception of a handful of people. Nexus is quite strict with language so much so that they put a language filter in. So if you're trying talk about "female dog’s”, you'll be wondering why you said "maid" instead. There are punishments for murder, attempted murder and theft. The punishment in the most severe of terms would be banishment, but for the rest you must server a set number of jail terms in accordance with your crime. The jail terms are set to where you must have a person pay your jail fee, outside of prison and then you will be forced to answer question or write things down repeatedly.

Benefits of a small community:
If you have the time and dedication it doesn't take much to become a very influential member. Perhaps a guide in a subpath, on a clan council, or even a soldier in one of the armies. Think of LA or San Francisco for the bigger games and a small rural community for this one. You'll constantly be running into familiar faces, so another words, its easier to make friends. Also on this game you will be more likely find helpful, nice people

Things you get to learn:
A lot of the things in nexus, are based off of literal things in the ancient Korean ways of life. It's not all fiction in nexus. A subpath of the Mage path are the Diviners, who study a real life book called the TAO Te Ching, and that is just one example of many.

Quests and Events:
The quests in the game are memorable to say the least and the events draw everyone and their mother out to participate. They have story contests and poetry contests which arn't too difficult to win.

Money Money:
The economy is stable and once you figure out some ways to make money, purchasing good armor and weapons is very affordable.

Game Cost:
it's 9.95 a month for 4 characters

My close:
For a long time since I’ve played the game was owned by a company called Nexon, and they switched ownership to Kru interactive. Since the change there have been radical changes and finally a few long lasting corrupted figure heads in the game were struck down. If there was ever a time to play it would be now, because with Kru's motivation to get things done, the game seems to be showing no sign of going anywhere soon. They just updated the graphics on the game, which look a little better, but they still have the option of playing with the old graphics, which are still having the bugs work out.

Have fun and if you ever decide to register and need something don't hesitate to mail me in the game. (it may take me a few days to get back to you.)
