One of the Pioneers of MMORPGs

User Rating: 8.5 | Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds PC
NexusTK was released in 1998 commercially by Nexon, Inc. and has been a memorable experience by half a million players around the world!

Today, though, it is quite different than when it was released in 1998.

...Game Play...

Community: The bread and butter of Nexus. There are less than 1000 active players left in Nexus and it is up to the community's volunteer support to keep the game thriving and interesting. That isn't all bad either, since you'll know the majority of players by name by the time your a few months into the game.
Also, Nexus is one of the most friendliest online communities there are. People will go out of their way to help newbies and level up low level players!

Graphics: If your looking for Skyrim or Halo 4 graphics or anything HD or 3D, you won't find it in Nexus. The game is entirely 2.5D and uses sprites and 16-bit graphics. It also has an anime feel to it.

Paths: There are four paths to choose from.
- Warrior
- Rouge
- Mage
- Poet
Each path is balanced equally and each one is played differently.

The warrior uses brute strength and power to attack groups or "mobs" of enemies.

The rogue uses stealth and cunning to take out one enemy at a time.

The mage is the DPS user and "setter" who uses heavy-damaging spells to attack groups of enemies. They will also get a spell that freezes targets in place, rendering them useless to attack or move. This gives the rogue and/or warrior time to kill the enemie(s) before they unfreeze.

The poet is the only healing class and is the most sought after hunting partner. The poet makes sure that the group is healed and buffed with spells. Poets are unable to level up by themselves as they have no spells or strength to do so. They rely solely on hunting with others in a group to level.

There 99 levels to achieve, 99 being the highest. After that there are even higher titles which include: il san, ee san, sam san, and sa san.
There is no limit to how buff or powerful your character can become. You can sell your experience once you hit the level cap of 99 to get better vita or mana.

Quests: Not the best way to level up, as there are not many, but they are good to do if you want a legend mark. Some quests are path-specific, meaning a poet or warrior could only do that type of quest, whereas some like the "Leviathan" quest can be done by any path.

Story: The story in Nexus is run by the players in the form of subpaths and armies. A subpath is a group that is path-specific and the armies (Buya, Koguryo and Nagnang), can be joined by any path if they are a resident of that city.
In addition, some clans are role-play and also affect the storyline. A clan is a group of 100 or more people who stick together to accomplish things.
Role-playing is optional in Nexus, but you'll have a much more fun time if you do role-play! If you make a poet, have him or her start role-playing at a low level.

In-Game Bulletin Board: If you press the 'B' button in the game, you'll find the bulletin board with a range of subjects where you can post stuff in it. Make sure you do not post inappropriate things as that will result in your character receiving a penalty!
---
Justice System: The justice system is entirely player-controlled and is used to keep order in Nexus. There are Judges and Archons who have special abilities to punish players who disobey rules or use programs to have an unfair advantage. It is best to follow rules and not use profanity if you want to keep a good reputation in Nexus.
---
Making Friends: Playing any MMO is very boring without making a few friends! If you want a good time playing Nexus, you'd better find some friends to interact and hunt with. Joining a subpath, clan or army is an excellent way to meet new people! If you don't know where to find a clan to join, look at 'Clans & Subpaths' on the bulletin board.
Many players are very nice and cool. Most will help anyone struggling with things like money or leveling. Keep a positive attitude and remember to play nice with each other!
---
Registering: In order to get out of the newbie zone, Tangun, and experience the whole game, you must register your character to an active account on KRU's website. You must pay $10 to register an account.
---
Carnages: In Nexus, there are scheduled PK events where you can kill other players for legend marks and prizes! These events are posted on the in-game bulletin board, however, some of them are surprise events by hosts. You yourself can apply to be a carnage host too!
---
Music: Such amazing quality and melodies Nexus has! If anything, it's the music that is still heard within your mind days or months after leaving Nexus. It's tranquil, child-like and makes you wonder and daydream. Unfortunately, there is little to do to extract the game's coded music into MP3 files to put on a music player device.
---
Closing: Nexus is what you make of it. You can be whoever you want, do whatever you want (within rules and laws, of course!) and explore wherever you'd like. While very dated, it is constantly changing for the better.

Recommended: Maybe. If you can get past the old graphics and little player-base, it is a whirlwind of amazement. It's very, very addicting and can consume your daily life if you aren't careful!
