Capcom built itself on the back of such classic gaming franchises as Bionic Commando and Street Fighter, and the publisher has found ample success reviving those two brands in 2008. In August, Bionic Commando Rearmed producer Ben Judd proclaimed the GRIN-developed redux for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and PC a digital-download "juggernaut," thanks to first-week sales of 130,000 units.

Today, Capcom has returned to tout Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix as a juggernaut in its own right. By way of the Capcom-Unity blog, the publisher announced that the arcade update has sold in excess of 250,000 units across the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions since their respective November 25 and 26 rollouts.

According to Capcom's John Diamonon, that tally equates to a record-setting performance in the digital-download sphere. "HD Remix has shattered both day-one and week-one sales records and will most likely break 30-day sales records as well," he said. "It's on its way to becoming the highest-grossing digital title ever."
