Just another joke by EA?

User Rating: 3.5 | Need for Speed: The Run PC
Although at first, it seems that NFS The Run (PC version) has quite a decent graphical quality, but later during the game it pretty much turns out to be quite different.

It comes with a lot of textures, making the look and feel more realistic. But that is the only positive feature about this game.

I played it in almost 2 hours, and then it did not make much fun anymore. You can only replay a whole stage again. The cop AI is pretty bad.

Furthermore, the UI is not state of the art, with some obvious graphical errors. The default settings for input control via keyboard is more unusual (steer left and right with left and right arrow keys, accelerate and brake with a and y?). Sometimes, it happens that the user just cannot set custom input keys properly (up and down arrows to accelerate and brake).

When I tried to play a challenge series, it once happened that I could not go back to main menu. So the only option was to manually exit the application. The next time the game started custom input keyboard mappings were gone, and I could not set them to my desired up and down arrow keys (brake).

Additionally, when in The Run mode, there happens to be some graphical errors in the loading screen: you already see the scene in a top and bottom bar of the screen.

And most of all: the program sometimes just exited because of an invalid memory access (through a dead pointer I guess; VC-10 debugger told me that).

All in all: If you are just interested in a game having nice graphics, some breakdown and limitations, and not expecting too much fun, then this is the game for you. For all others: stay away from this. (maybe just another title to make money! > ads)

For me, this game is about making money, not customer satisfaction!
