NBA 2k12 - My Player Review

User Rating: 8 | NBA 2K12 X360
My favorite mode in the 2k series have been My Player mode since it's been available, which I think was 2k10. Though, I'm not sure. Either way, that doesn't matter. I'm just here to give you a short review on only the My Player section of 2k12, because that's all I've really invested time into.

You start yourself in a Rookies Challenge game, trying to earn yourself a ticket into the NBA. My first character was drafted RD:1 Pick 15: to the Pacers. The games story is brief, mostly uninteresting, and really not worth mentioning.

In My Player mode you assume the role of your created character. By that, I mean you're only able to control your character and your team mates are controlled by CPU. I happened to create a 6'2" 180lb PG.

You're graded on how well you perform in your game. For this, you'll start at a C. How you play from here depends on whether or not you finish this game with a D- or A+. Turnovers, Bad Shots, and Bad Fouls will earn you negative ratings. Steals, Blocks, Rebounds, Good Shots will earn you positive ratings. There are much more things that will earn you a positive rating but you get the idea.

The overall game play is mostly fun. What I mean is that their are a lot of glitches in the game that create a less than ideal experience for you sometimes. Luckily these moments aren't as common as you'd think and you can tend to just place the wasted frustration behind you.

Overall the game isn't any better than 2k11 in my opinion. It's not really worth buying for the price that it is. The Rosters aren't even updated (which is the #1 priority for new sports games) and the glitches are plentiful. I'd suggest playing 2k11, maybe waiting for 2k13, and I also heard EA is releasing their next NBA game. Though, I've never been a fan of EA.
