Best sports game I have played to date. Snappy Graphics, Plenty of game modes AND Michael Jordan makes this great.
The most proministic aspect of this is.... Michael Jordan. He cann be classified as one of the best the game has ever seen, so it is almost fitting that hi AIRness comes out of retirement for one last go at the championship. The main area to use MJ's skills are in the Michael Jordan mode, where you can recreate some of his most historic matches using the teams he played with in his time. Can you average 11 assists in the '91 series against the Lakers? Or drop six treys and score at least 35 points in the first half against Drexler and the Trail Blazers to earn the famous Jordan shrug? Or light up the Knicks for 55 points in Jordan's return from retirement? All of this can be done in this mode. If you complete all 10 challenges, you unlock a special My Player mode where you take control of MJ in his younger years.
This leads me to another mode. My Player. This year, 2k sports has taken a career to the next level. You can now take control of your player off the court as well as on in press conferences, endorsement signings and trades. The general format of the mode is the same. You create a player, fiddle with him (ha ha), play the draft combine, get drafted, play in summer circuit, get signed by a NBA team or get dropped to the D-League. If you do get dropped, do not fret, you will eventually get signed. I remember how much I sucked when I first played. I got dropped and played in the d-league. And then after 4 matches I got picked up by the Knicks, and now 25 matches later I am playing point guard for the Heat, along with the likes of Lebron, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. The main train of thought is keep playing.
Then you have the online multiplayer. This isnt as crisp as everything else. Lag, Dropping out and crashing can make for an unenjoyable time, however these are only rare problems and if you set these aside can make in a pretty fun time.
Along with this you have all the usuals quick game, season, GM mode, NBA Blacktop. The list goes on... and on... and on...
In all, the gameplay is what matters most, but what also makes this game superb is its presentation. Sharp graphics, a stellar soundtrack and cheerleaders, give this the all around feel of perfection.
This is also designed around replayability. I have played My Player mode 4 times, Season 3 times and have played over 200 online matches and I am still playing. And this makes it all worth your money.
Great gameplay, modes, presentation and lasting appeal make 2k11 the best sports game out to date. This is the year of the Jordan
