Reminds me of playing Harpoon2 15 years ago. Wonderfully interactive with simple tools and easy to use visuals

This is a wonderful, simple game that does not have any extra audio or graphical detail. It is not full of explosions or witty remarks. There are no visual highlights. However the game has remarkable depth and easy to use HUD that controls every aspect of the game.

You play either the Norwegian (NATO) side or the Russian side. The NATO side includes a 3 mission tutorial but beyond that it is really the same game just told from different perspectives with different military units. As you would expect the Norwegian side has primarily NATO aircraft (F35) and the Russian side has SU27. Similar for ships, helicopters, weapons etc. It is all very realistic in that way. The HUD controls every aspect of the game with your mouse. It is entirely point and click but very detailed. You can literally control everything from sensors to speed to range to armaments, ESW, long or short range weapons etc.

You can speed up the game to 1:120 which really helps when moving pieces around. However, and quite annoyingly, every time a plane, missile, ship etc is discovered with your sensors or aircraft the time slows to 1:1. This can get very frustrating if you have many of your pieces in places but every 2 seconds the time slows because the enemy shoots a missile. I would like to see some kind of way to keep the speed up because 1:1 is just too slow.

Overall a very fun game that is likely to get finished very quickly. I doubt it will take more than 20 hours if that long. There is no real replay value unless you are such a military hardcore buff that you want to retry every variation of the missions.
