Tomy does a good job at visual design and voice casting, but unfortunately, Clash of Ninja is limited in many ways.

User Rating: 5 | Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen GC
POSITIVES: Amazing visuals; Great voice acting; Some interesting moments.
NEGATIVES: Everything is limited, stages, characters, and even the story; Pretty useless if you have Clash of Ninja 2.

Being a big anime fan, espicially Naruto, Clash of Ninja turned out to be a pretty interesting game. There are some moments that are a little predictable, but still cool to watch. The American voice actors do a pretty good job at their job. Not to mention, Clash of Ninja has some pretty great visuals. But, overall, the game doesn't do well at gameplay options. All the options relate to fighting, and for some people that's a good thing. However, with critical people like me, I would expect some more content in the sequel, which pretty much makes this game, useless.

The modes in the game include, Survival, Story, Exhibition, and a few more having to do with regulars like audio or bonuses. The game goes simply like this. . . You choose your character and fight. In the fight, the first person to defeat their oppopent twice wins the match. There are many different attacks and combos your character has, but all it deals with is blocking, punching, or special attack. The special attack is possibly the best experience you'll get in this game. The character's special attack power and type depends on who the character is. Naruto will do his famous Uzumaki Barrage, Sasuke will do his Lion's Barrage, and Sakura's attack seems like it doesn't have a name since she just basically beats the crap out of you, but every attack does that, right? So, let's call Sakura's attack, "The attack that beats the most crap out of you." Seriously, if she did this on you, there's no freakin' way you'll ever know who you are again. Let's move on, shall we?

In survival mode, you choose your character, and just brawl until you drop. An interesting thing about this mode was that your health level at the beginning of the fight can sometimes immediately drop. This makes the game a little tougher. (Though the game's small amount of content makes it pretty easy.) Let's move on. In story mode, you play Naruto throughout, so that's a good reason the game's limited. The story stops right after you beat Zabuza, one of the seven swordsmen of the Mist, which is probably around the middle of the first season.

The other mode I didn't mention was Regular mode or something like that. You choose your character, and randomly fight people until you fight Zabuza once again. You can even fight Rock Lee, who is a unique Leaf Ninja that doesn't have any Gen Jutsu or Nin Jutsu. (If you're confused about what I'm saying, stop reading this and watch the show so you can understand it.) Rock Lee is an unlockable character, but it will take you a really long time to unlock him.

Other modes include bonuses, which I enjoyed. In this mode, I found out a lot about the characters in the show. (Up until the first half of the season.) And overall, Tomy does a good job at visual design and voice casting, but unfortunately, Clash of Ninja is limited in many ways. I give Naruto: Clash of Ninja a 5 out of 10.

Final word: You can play the game, but the sequel's similarlity makes this game pretty useless. Don't make this the first idea that pops in your head who you decide to buy a 3D Fightning game.
