Mortal Kombat: Deception brings a lot of new material to the table, while remaining loyal to the classic feel of MK.

MK Deception follows the adventure of Shujinko, a young warrior from Earthrealm. He must defeat the dragon emperor Onaga.

This game has a decent story. Shujinko must travel through different realms to gather Artifacts, called Kamidogou. This all takes place in the game's adventure mode, dubbed Konquest. This could have been very fast paced, but is bogged down by endless tutorials being taught by anyone from Bo Rai Cho to classics, like Liu Kang.

The fighting in this game runs very smoothly. You get your punches and kicks, with which you can use to pull of combos. You also have three fighting styles, one with a weapon. These can make the game extremely fun. One thing you may find missing that was fun in Deadly Alliance, is the ability to impale your opponents with your weapons. You also have throws, blocks, and special moves. Special Moves are generally easy to pull off and are pretty neat.

Of course, fatalities return. They are just as bloody and gory as ever.

Along with Konquest there are Puzzle & Chess Kombat, Arcade, and The Krypt.

Puzzle Kombat is an MK Style Tetris. Chess Kombat is... Chess with an MK Twist. When you take the leader, you see a fatality.

In the Krypt, you can unlock bonus characters, arenas, costumes, moves, music, art, and videos.

Mortal Kombat: Deception has a great roster. Series favorites such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Liu Kang all return. You also get Baraka, Noob-Smoke, Kenshi, Hotaro, and Shujinko.

Mortal Kombat: Deception's greatest downfall is that nobody is ever on the online servers.

Deception is a great amount of fun for everyone, whether your thing is button mashing and beating the living crap out of CPUs or if you'd just like to perform a fatality on your friends, this is great.

MK Deception is, by far, the best installment in the series of legendary fighters.
