New Life Thrives!

With the series back in its feet, the team went to work on the sequal for Deadly Alliance. In 2004, along with other hits of the same year (Halo2, GTA: San Andreas) Mortal Kombat Deception was released.

The Earthrealm warriors are dead. All seems lost. Defying the Elder Gods wishes, Raiden takes a chance to fight the Deadly Alliance. He fails. Once he is dead, the two sorcerers turn on each other, Quan Chi being the victor. He victory is short lived, as Onaga the Dragon King appears wanting back his army and his throne. A revived Raiden and Shang Tsung form a temporary alliance with Quan Chi. They try to fend off the Dragon King. Feeling that they can't win, Raiden kills himself and the others in a giant blast, hoping it'll kill Onaga. It deosn't work.

With updated graphics and even more fighters, Deception may be the best Mortal Kombat ever! Konquest mode is now an adventure mode, which spans the adventure of Shujinko and how he unknowingly revived Onaga. Also, two new Mini-games are added, Chess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat.

The graphics are mainly the same as MKDA, just with a little more gloss.

Controls are the same as Deadly Alliance with realistic fighting styles. This time around, combo breakers are added. Pressing forward and block will allow your character to break an opponent's combo string. You're allowed only three of these per match.

Sound in MKD has greatly improved, giving more UMF! to your punch. Some songs are inspired by other Midway games, including one of my favorites, The Suffering.

Death traps have returned from past MKs. Enemies can be knocked into a pit of spikes or a grinder any time during the match instead of at the end of match.

Konquest has been changed to an adventure mode and is the best version of the mode in any game. You play as Shujinko and guide him on his quest for the Komidogu, relics of power from each Realm.

Chess Kombat is the tradditional game with an MK twist. When taking over a square, you must fight the owner for it. If you win, you get it, if not, you lose. The first one to kill the team leader wins.

Puzzle Kombat is a lot like Puzzle Fighter Turbo. Match up the right color blocks and break them up. If your pile of blocks goes over the line, you lose.

Deffinety an MK to remember! Nuff said.
