VR Missions, or what I like to call, "Metal Gear Boot Camp"

User Rating: 7.5 | Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions PS
Ah, yes, the VR missions. Fun to play? Yes, for us hardcore metal gear fans. There are different modes of play. Mostly fun. It was all about getting the fastest time and the highest score. I'm not sure when this was released after MGS, but you got the feeling this was a money-maker attempt by Konami to reap the benefit of MGS.

Yes, there is plenty of stuff to do, BUT... I'm not sold, and probably will not be sold, on a bunch of training missions bundled together, with a few quirky missions, that makes a complete game.

I like it, it's more MGS, more gameplay... But it's not quite enough for me to be a complete game. Your reward for fast times, high scores and completing missions? You get closer to a girl to take pictures. Yep...

I think the rewards system could've used a little work... How about even a split screen versus mode? That would've been nice. Back then, MGS die hards couldn't settle an argument over who was better.

But a VR mission versus mode? Would've put all doubts to rest.

IMO, the Integral package is far better than two separate games. Can you imagine MGS Integral being the FIRST game on the PSX? A player could practice for the full mission, play against friends and work on a high score and fast times.

But, again, they are two separate games.

My review shorthand? MGS, VR Missions: Together they stand, but divided, MGS still stands and VR Missions fall.

Sturdy 7, would've made MGS an 11 had it been like Integral on the PC.
