The PS2 had some amazing games. This is just one of the many that made the console successful.

User Rating: 9.5 | Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Mega Hits!) PS2
If you don't have Metal Gear Solid 2 in your collection of PS2 games, you're missing out. This is not a game you want to miss. Fortunately, the game isn't so expensive anymore so anyone can pick up the game at a good deal. I bought a pre-owned copy from GameStop for about 3 bucks. Obviously, you will start out as Solid Snake but then, 2 years will pass, then you play as Raiden. Raiden is very nimble and has flashy moves but he's a cool character to play with. Metal Gear Solid 2 takes place a couple of years after the incident of Shadow Moses (Metal Gear Solid). I will say the storyline is confusing because you play as Snake, but then you play as Raiden 2 years after Snake was aboard that ship. I was pretty confused throughout the whole game. I like how the gameplay has improved since the first Metal Gear Solid appeared. There was a first person aiming view which you can now make a guard put his hands up and that was pretty cool. They really improved the game a lot with this one. The action button used to be the O button but it changed to Triangle. You still use square to shoot and X to crouch and to lie on the floor. This time, you used L1 for the first person view and square to aim your weapon for more accurate shooting. I liked how when you're shimmying on the walls, that you can now look when you reach the edge using the L2 or R2 buttons. The story confused me a bit but I liked the gameplay a lot. Just like the first Metal Gear Solid, this game also has long cutscenes. Some parts in the game are actually pretty sad but other parts are just weird. Overall, this is a good game that made people get a PS2 and it shouldn't be missed.
