Metal Gear goes into new territory, and it does so quite well, too bad it's so short.

I've been hyped about this game for so long, I haven't played that much Metal Gear Solid, I completed the third game and only played demos of the first and second, so you could say I'm not overly familiar with the franchise. But this new direction seemed exciting to me, I know some people don't like it, but hey, can't please everyone, and besides it's not like there won't be more stealth Metal Gear Solid games, so I appreciate this spin-off. You play as Raiden who has some amazing abilities, you'll run up walls, lift gigantic robots and slash hundreds or thousands of enemies into incredibly small bits. I loved playing this game, it is incredibly fun, really well designed, the enemies are usually fun to battle, not to mention it has some of the best boss fights I've ever played, even when Monsoon became a pain in the neck, it was before I discovered the item that replenishes your health, even when he was slaying me again and again, I just had fun fighting him, the tricks he would come up with coupled with the awesome music, this game has an amazing soundtrack, it's a blast to fight the bosses, even Mistral despite her being so easy to beat, her and the other ones have unique designs and are really cool. The final boss brings you into some pretty cartoonish territory, but I liked that as well, plus he looks like Jim Cornette. The game looks great, the voice acting is surprisingly good as well, Quinton Flynn, who I know from voicing Timon in certain episodes of the Timon & Pumbaa animated series does a really fine job. The controls feel really good, at first I was a little sceptical about the parry function being the same as one of the attack buttons, but it really works, fighting Monsoon and some of the others would be a pain otherwise, so well done. I just had so much fun playing the game, the first 4 chapters are fairly long, then the fifth is something like 10-11 minutes long, then the sixt is just a boss battle that's pretty easy and the final one is not that lengthy either, though it does have a fairly challenging boss. I finished the game in something like 5 hours, I think, which is in my opinion too brief, there's no multiplayer, I'm sure I will go back to play it again, but I am slightly disappointed that it was over so quickly. But by all means, I recommend you checking it out if you like Metal Gear or if you're just a fan of this particular genre, I hope this becomes a new franchise, and I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel, because this was impressive, short but impressive.
