While this game does stay more true to megaman x than x4, it still feels loose and pushed.

Megaman x4 was a disaster. I'm not saying I didn't appreciate the game, but the move to psx was very bumpy for megaman. Megaman 8 was a complete bomb of a game, and x4, although better, was too far away from megaman x for many to enjoy.
Megaman x5 tries to fill that void, but does some things wrong. First off, it uses a lot of past stuff to try to make it like an older masterpiece. Although fans of megaman x can appreciate that, it doesn't outweigh some of the frustrating times in the game. The overhead view is annoying sometimes however not as bad as the ps2 games. The megaman series was introduced into the story, and the game centers around zero rather than X (it was going to be called megaman zero before they quickly changed it to put a megaman in the game).
I could appreciate putting the yellow devil back into the game, with his music, and quickman's stage. It made the game feel connected to the Megaman series. The walls eyes were not needed...
Anyway... Not much has changed from x4 besides the story is truer to it's roots (although very confusing at times) and the megaman x3 prophecy comes to pass.... Just pretend megaman x7 and 8 don't exist... Those games are trash.

P.S. The into theme is a remixed version of zero's theme from MMx1, and a song from megaman 3--> Good stuff.
