KICK ASS!!

User Rating: 10 | RockMan & Forte SNES
For the speed run, I had a normal Megaman & Bass Cartridge, a normal NTSC-J/Japanese SNES/Super Famicom, a normal Super Famicom/Japanese SNES controller ( No rapid fire/turbo buttons), a portion of luck on bosses and a good ol' VCR from 2001 that I bought in July 17 to record the run.

I did this run on the Super Famicom (SFC/Japanese SNES) version. Its my first NTSC-J run, but its nice to record it now. Why I did this run on Super Famicom version instead of Game Boy Advance version is simple. This version is easier than the GBA version.

I found out that its more fun. You are more motivated to find faster techniques, super skills, and moves. When you find one you are even more motivated to continue. My goal wasn't to beat the old run with this much. But I guess that's because I found and searched for tricks with more motivation.

If you wanna spend some time, read this. I have spend pretty much time playing this game, so I just have too. And I just want you to know how expensive and frustrating it was to finally be able to record and show this run! Its much "maybe" pointless stuff to read. I just remember details so good in this little story...

HISTORY: I guess this history begun in August 25, 2004 or in the beginning of 2005. I decided to buy the GBA version at Funcoland/GameStop, and I swear that I never touched a "Mega Man cartridge" game before that. I thought it looked complicated but still very fast and maybe could be fun if I played it a lot. I remember that I watched a Tool-Assisted/TAS run from Gigafrost. I didn't know much of this game but I remember that I knew some tricks which was faster than that.

I decided to play trough the game in 3 days, and I think I played all hard parts and practiced all day/night. Then Sunday, I was sooo bored, and one of the few GBA games I had was Megaman & Bass for GBA. It took me 2 days to beat the game. I remembered that I chose the right bosses and used the right weapon because I was watching a TAS run from Gigafrost. And thats how my relationship with this game begun.

I played this game a lot in a little period. I remember when we, I don't remember who was first but we made it trough the hour limit and that was good news. We had the GBA version since we are in the United States, but I played it anyway. I made the decision to buy the Super Famicom with 11 games, including Rockman & Forte (SFC version of Megaman & Bass). I found it for $92 I couldn't buy it from eBay since I can't get PAYPAL because I wasn't 18 and I couldn't get a VISA CARD or master card, I didn't had a job, AND I didn't knew someone who could buy it for me, so I had to search for a Super Famicom in a couple of months here in the United States. I searched everywhere. Somehow I couldn't find one. I asked on a couple of forums and searched it. I know it sounds silly but finally I found one. I had to pay $92 plus Shipping & Handling that costs $69!!!! But finally, I could play the game how much I wanted and compare runs. So I was lucky and poor.

The first Time I finished my run, my time on the VCR was 50:36. I really was glad since I was even more motivated to beat it :p
Yes, I was a little bit proud of myself So I only had to catch the run on a video tape (Yeah, I thought so). I found out that my NTSC VCR from 2001 lagged because I chose LP or SLP. I wasn't motivated to play it for speed running purpose before could record it. But yet I have another VCR that doesn't lag. Of course any NTSC VCRs could record NTSC-J. I had to tell about Megaman & Bass and about speed running and this site and stuff.
And I was lucky this VCR didn't lag because I chose SP so it should work properly.
