Aww, the classic "Knight saving the princess" story. That is what this game has, only with zombies.

User Rating: 8.3 | Maximo (PlayStation 2 the Best) PS2
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory was one of my first PS2 games. I only sold it because the game glitched way too much, but any other way, this was an excellent game. You play as Maximo, a knight who has been killed by his old friend and then, he is trapped in the underworld. Suddenly, he is confronted by the Grim Reaper himself in need of your services. It seems that your enemy has powered up a machine that has drilled into the underworld and is stealing Grim's souls in order to raise his army of the dead. With a special coin, Maximo is sent back to the world of the living in order to save his girlfriend and save himself from an eternity of serving the bad guy as a zombie. The controls are really fun, but a little sluggish. The graphics are nicely done and a lot of the enemies are fun to look at. Each level has a Hub, like in Spyro the Dragon. Here, you are to choose from any of the 4 worlds, then unlock the 5th world, the Boss battle. The boss AI is set to hard, which makes every boss battle a challenge. Then, you have the countless zombie enemies you will have to face. Each of them represent their own little world, like the Graveyard and the Ice Wasteland. Maximo is a nicely voice acted dude, even though his girlfriend seems a little annoying. The villain behind all this is another well voice acted little guy, but packs a punch when it comes to the last battle with him. Maximo's character can be upgraded, from armor to magical spells, which can be used to completely own all in your path. It was a little drag how the sequel presented Grim as a playable character, but this game is definitely a PS2 classic.
