One of the best DSi Ware games that Nintendo has to offer. Good story, Great fun, and an Awesome Level Designer.
A basic and easy to understand story line, you have to save Pauline from Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong kidnapped Pauline after she and Mario opened up a Mini's theme park that Donkey Kong wasn't invited to. Your goal is to guide Mario's Mini's through the levels and get to the exit. On the way you can collect coins and cards in a timely manner to earn gold stars for each level. After turning on the minis, you never actually "control" the minis but rather the environment. By moving blocks, using items, and messing with platform gadgets you can reach your destination. Each world becomes a little more complicated and at the end of each world you have a boss battle with Donkey Kong. After you beat the game you unlock a plus mode for all the previous levels and can unlock new levels as well.
Even though attempting to earn gold stars in the story mode can keep you occupied for hours, the Level Designer is the best feature in the game. You can create your own levels in the construction zone. By using templates of levels in the story mode you can mold and shape your levels however you choose. By completing the story mode you can unlock more items and level templates. After you complete your level you can upload it online with the DSi. Now anyone who plays the game can view your level, download it, play it and rate it. People create and upload tons of fun, innovative levels of all difficulties and you can upload whichever one your heart desires.
At 800 DSi points (8$) this game is well worth it and is cheaper than its DS predecessor Mario VS Donkey Kong 2. Whether you are playing the story mode or creating, uploading, and downloading levels you will have hours of fun.
