Better than I expected after reading the reviews

User Rating: 8.5 | Madden NFL 12 PS3
I think that Madden is the Casey Anthony of video games, hard to get a fair trial. Once the negative professional reviews started piling up, the rank and file gamers started piling on. From what I have read on the Internet I expected an unplayable glitch fest that I would throw out the window after kicking in the TV set. The good news is that I liked the game. But the Casey Anthony prosecuters, I mean, professional reviewers and their mob followers, to be exact, would not consider me "qualified" to review this game. I am that most bad of all living creatures, the casual player who has never played on line, and plays one game at a time while I use my other hand to keep my creditors at bay. Having said that:
I played a lot of Madden 11 and I found a major upgrade in graphics in Madden 12. No one else did, so I guess people will say I am not qualifed to make that judgment. I found the game more playable when I have played the five single games I have played so far. I enjoyed offense and defense, running and passing and have not found the glitch fest I was told about. Maybe I am too non-fan boy to see the glitches.
I also think the player models are good, the ability to use the play calling mechanisms worked (OK, as they did last year) and when I played as certain specific quarterbacks I had more of the feeling of being that quarterback than I did in previous years. As an average player I never felt the AI was cheating on me, and I was in the game every game win or lose. I have not even felt the need to check out the sliders, so I do not even know if there are any, but I assume there are. I prefer a running game and I enjoyed controling the running backs, using play action pass plays and pitching out. I have found all of that good work by the Madden 12 team. I am sure that there are a million technical points that are lacking in this game, but I am frankly happy not to know enough to see them.
