Great for kids - others should take a pass.

This one is hard to review - as someone who has been playing video games for more then 28 years (I'm old enough to have owned a first generation Atari system - long before it was called the "2600"), the game is simply OK. Fairly standard platformer with the fun twist that in many of the levels you can quickly alternate from among the various characters that you are playing (lion, hippo, giraffe - and other levels let you play as a zebra or penguin too) each of which have different strengths to help you along in your adventure. Of course, there is no explanation as to how your lion can suddenly morph into a hippo and then disappear again - but you weren't really looking for an explanation anyway.

On the other hand, as the Dad of 7 year old twins, this game is "soooo cool". The kids love it since the missions (levels) are challenging enough that they cannot blow right through them, yet short enough that the kids feel like they are making progress in the game. Even better is that when you fail a mission (in most levels), you pick up the game from the equivalent of a "save" point so that you do not have to run through the whole level again. The graphics and cut scenes are reminiscent of the movie and the sound (dialogue) makes them laugh.

If you are looking for a game for the 6-13 or so set, this one is good. Much beyond that and I'm not sure you would be doing them a favor.
