If you liked Lost Planet, then Lost Planet 2 will disappoint.

Lost Planet 2 seems to be an online multiplayer game with some sort of campaign episodes thrown together for offline play. The campaign episodes are divided among the different characters that you can choose for online play. The campaign episodes themselves are not connected to each other and nor do they really have an end. They kind of just finish after a specified amount of missions. The episodes themselves seem like some sort of prelude to the multiplayer part of the game but its never made clear if the battle is continuing in the multiplayer sections of the game.
The graphics for Lost Planet 2 are probably the best part of the game. All of the levels are well rendered and colorful. The textures are excellent and the enemies are diverse with several different types of each. Even the enemy soldiers look a bit different even though they are basically the same type of enemy.
Another good part of the game is the diverse array of VS suits (Mechs and Armor). There are several different VS suit to use through out the game and each has their own abilities and weapons that can be interchanged. When playing multiplayer other characters can ride on the sides of the VS suits and lend support. The VS suit weapons can be detached and used while on foot if your VS suit is damaged beyond repair or the weapons can also be found lying around the environment to use as you like.
While playing the offline campaign episodes, defeating enemies will allow you to collect different character parts for use in the multiplayer mode. One of the biggest drawbacks of this is that you cannot use the items to change your campaign character so if you don't plan on playing Lost Planet 2 online, then collecting the parts is basically useless.
The basic game play mechanics are repetitive and bored. The missions consist of activating control points that reveal the mini-map, repeat until the end of the level where you will either have a boss battle or you will have to defend a control point for a specified amount of time. The boss battles are your basic shoot the boss's weak point and survive missions. Some of the boss battles have you jumping inside the bosses mouth and shooting stuff on the inside, however its not required to defeat the boss in most battles.
Also the level designs are very linear until you reach the end of the level where you have an arena type room for the boss battles. All of these elements simply repeat through out the entire game and get old after the end of the second episode especially since the games story's are broken apart and are not involving.
Overall, this game seems like a repetitive boring mess with good graphics and mostly built around online play. If you're interested in co-op missions or a unique online experience there are several other games that do it a lot better than Lost Planet 2.
