A great take on a puzzle game, not so incredible in other aspects.

*Before you read, if you don't feel like reading all of this, just skip to the bottom, I'll summarize everything there.

Let me start off by saying that this was a really good game. For a Wii-Ware game, this has some decent graphics, though they probably could have done a little bit better than just N64 graphics, but it doesn't hurt the game. Now, if you were like me you're probably asking, "So what is this game?" Now, it is a puzzle game, mixed with horror and adventure. Now, if you're afraid of being afraid, don't, just because it's really not that scary. If you're in it for the puzzle aspect, prepare to be pleasantly suprised. Now, you've probably played flash games slightly like this, but basically you have to create paths to get from one side of the room to the other. The story of this game is...vague. The game really just...starts. You see your protagonist run against a chalkboard, and the menu is on the board. You then play...and thats it. No explanation, not even an explanation of the control scheme, though it's really not hard to figure out at all. Throughout the game you are answering a phone in rooms. Now, the cool thing is it tries to put you into the game so the sound comes through the wii-mote. And it works, it really does. The quality is really good. Now the person on the other line is your friend? girlfriend? I dunno, it never says, all she says is "Hey it's Rachel, whats going on?" and thats about all the story you get. The ending is extremely predictible, and I'll get back to that in a second. So a little more of an explanation of the gameplay. I mentioned you had to get to the end of a room, but the trick is you cannot touch darkness. If you get in the darkness, you get pulled under and you die. There are lights and windows that you have to shoot out with either a slingshot or a cherybomb. You do all of this using everything the wii-mote has to offer, and it really works. Now, the game tries to be freaky, and at times it's a little scary, but you're not going to be jumping out of your seat. The good thing is that you can skip the mini-cut scenes by simply hitting A, which comes in handy a lot. The boss battles are fun, in which you have to do different things to kill them. The first few bosses, you have to kill them with light, but the last boss you have to kill him with cherybombs. Now, onto my final point which I mentioned earlier, the story. Now it's barely there, but what is there is amusing enough to keep you entertained. There is a hard mode at the end, which is basically just a timed mode. There may be a sequel, since the end sorta leaves you guessing, but it wouldn't be a bad thing...

Anyway, heres the summary.

Graphics: 7 Now, it doesn't hurt, but they are N64 graphics, and I believe they could do better.

Gameplay: 9.5 Fun and challenging. You will probably get angry at the game, but not for bad reasons.

Sound: 9 The music is somewhat creepy, but the bad thing is that when you die, it replays at the beginning of the loop, and sometimes, its really annoying. Also, the wii-mote sounds were very good quality.

Storyline: 5 Figured it was an important aspect to point out, but the storyline was pretty bad, but, for the most part, it was negligible.

Final thoughts: A great game, especially for Wii-Ware. Fans of puzzle games should defenintly pick it up, horror fans, maybe not for the horror factor, and adventure fans, well, you probably like a storyline, and it would probably not be for you. Overall a great, fun game, and pick it up.
