If someone says that gaming isn't art, Limbo will make them eat their words.

It's been more than a year since Limbo came out and I've been hearing great things about it ever since. Sadly, it was 360 exclusive at the time. But Limbo was finally able to make it to the PS3 last summer.

Limbo is unlike any game I've played in the past generation. It is an engrossing, striking and emotional experience. The game doesn't show you the ropes from the start and it doesn't have any introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the game. It's all about discovery and you also die many times along the way without warning. That makes the gameplay unpredictable. No tutorials at all.

The black-and-white aesthetic make the visuals very striking. It's very noir-like and it helps to tell the story.

The level design is awesome, as well. The Hotel level is a standout. The music in the game is subtle and there is a great emphasis on ambience which makes the game that much more immersive.

My only gripes with Limbo was the length, it can be completed in a few hours but it took me several days since I wasn't familiar with it and the ending (no spoilers) left me with unanswered questions.

However, the quality of this game is fantastic. This is one of those games that you can get lost in it's world. Limbo is easy to recommend for anyone who wants something different from their usual fare. Download it.
