Gamespot! Review this frikkin' game, all ready!

User Rating: 9 | Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
Ben 1: So, where do I begin? Do I say that it's the best Kirby game for the DS, first?

Ben 2: No, that'd be an understatement.

Ben 1: How about the best Kirby game, in general?

Ben 2: Getting there but still not quite.

Ben 1: How about the best platformer on the DS?

Ben 2: You almost have it. I can sense it?

Ben 1: Ummm.... Best overall game for the DS?

Ben 2: B-I-N-G-O!

Ben 1: Okay, sweet. Now, let's combine back into Ben again, so that the people reading this review don't have to put up with this annoying back-and-forth dialog, any more.

Music/Sound:
Since this is a remake of Kirby Superstar for the SNES, nearly all of the songs in it are remakes of old school Kirby songs. However, there are a couple original songs, including Galacta Knight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2Fcd2uKDew), which totally kicks ass. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely putting that song on my top 10 list.

The sounds sound naturally natural. There's nothing unnatural about these natural sounding sounds.

Graphics:
Though, the game itself's graphics is on par with the other Kirby DS games, the cut scenes go above and beyond, giving you almost Wii-like detail.

Replay Value:
Most Kirby games are really short. Short to 100% and REALLY short to beat. While Kirby Super Star Ultra isn't the longest game in the world, it takes care of this problem pretty nicely.

There's Spring Breeze, Great Cave Offensive, Gourmet Race, The Arena, Meta Knight's Revenge, Milky Way Wishes, and Dynablade, from the original Kirby Super Star. There are about 5 mini games to play (though, none of them are all that great). And there's Meta Knight Ultra, Revenge of The King, Helper To Hero, and The TRUE Arena, which are exclusive to Kirby Super Star Ultra.

The new modes are pretty much just more difficult versions of the old modes but they add their own unique twists to keep the game interesting. For instance, Meta Knightmare Ultra is pretty much the entire game played as Meta Knightmare using a unique 'sword points' system. It's one of the cooler parts of the game, even though it is pretty much just the same game with MK instead of the Kirbster.

In addition to all this, certain modes can be beaten, but not beaten 100%. For example, you could go through Great Cave Offensive just trying to beat it or you could go through Great Cave Offensive and try to get all of the treasures. Trying to beat the game 100% is a much bigger challenge in KSSU, than in any other Kirby game. But, if you have the time, I recommend that you do so. BTW, this is the first time I've ever put a replay value section into a review. So... yeah.

Gameplay:
Simply awesome. Kirby has a butt ton of powers, each with multiple attacks. The bosses, though still easy, are a lot more bad ass in KSSU. You can get Helpers to assist you throughout the game. Some of the treasures in Great Cave Offensive are really awesome.... This is Kirby at his best.

Story:
None to speak of, really. Then again, this is nothing new for the Kirby series. Though the cut scenes are graphically superb and cute, you can't really get much out of them other than "Kirby wins. DeDeDe's sad. The end. But, with game play this good you don't really need a story. M I RITE?

I'm gonna split into 2 separate people again, for a big cheesy ending. M'kay?

Ben 1: If you like Kirby on the DS, buy this game. If you like Kirby on the DS, buy this game. If you like platformers on the DS, buy this game. If you like the DS, buy this game.

Ben 2: I couldn't have said it better, myself.
