Unleash the ultra combo!

User Rating: 8.3 | Killer Instinct SNES
Oh yeah, I was pretty amazed when I tried Killer Instinct on SNES for the first time, since the graphics were surprisingly realistic considering that it was SNES I was playing on. Yeah. Anyways, Killer Instinct is quite a playable fighting game for SNES.

Killer Instinct offers a good selection of different styled warriors. They range from robots to ninjas, and even some elemental creatures so there sure is some difference. There are quite many moves in the game, but the thing that this game is known of, is the combos. The combos are pretty hard to figure out by oneself, so I guess a guide or two and some practice -mode should be handy.

The story mode is the pretty usual . You start from the bottom and progress upwards as you beat the people that are in front of you. Of course, as you move on, the enemies get tougher and more cunning, so you can't hope to win a rushing kick -tactic all the time. Defence is a valuable weapon as well.

There are some funny details in the game, like the stage fatalities and such. You know, every stage offers they're own kind of way to kill you opponent in a special way. You can kick the foe of the roof or smack it to the screen. There are pretty much different things, so you shouldn't get bored too soon.

The fighting system has one refreshing thing. There are no rounds in a fight, but when your energy meter drops to zero for the first time, you collapse and rise up again and your health is full. The match is over when either one has dropped two times. This is pretty unique and sure is a refreshing thing!

The sounds are sampled ones, so they're average quality in today's measures. Anyway, the don't sound that bad, so it doesn't bother the playing. The music are pretty much "stuff in the background" which aren't especially good, but not bad either.

So, it's a fighting game and you can't say much of it, since they're are, well, fighting games. Haha, anyways, Killer Instinct is about the best SNES can offer when it comes to beat 'em ups. If you like these kind of games, I recommend you try this out, you may love it, or hate it. Recommended.
