Katamari Damacy's addictiveness is only surpassed by it's uniqueness!

In all my years of gaming I could never ever think a game where roll up things would be fun. Mostly because I would think of anything like that but Katamari is one of the most fun games I have ever played. And it's addictiveness is only surpassed by it's uniqueness. You see there is a reason for why you would be rolling up things. Basically the story is the King of All Cosmos was out having too much of a good time and destroyed all the stars in the sky. He summons his son the Price of all Cosmos to go to Earth and use a Katamari ball to roll up "stuff" to make new stars. Now you may think the stay is weird but that is only the tip of the iceberg. The moment you see the opening movie to Katamari Damacy and you star to see rainbows, sing ducks, dancing pandas, and the King of All Cosmos flying in the sky you start to realize what you're in for.

The game is simple and effective you use both analog sticks to roll your Katamari and control the camera at the same time and it works very well and after a while you can do it without thinking. When you start out your Katamari can only pick up small things like tacks and other very small items. As you keep rolling up stuff the Katamari gets bigger allowing you to pick up bigger things like cats, dogs, people, houses, basically you name it and it's there. Things are oddly placed and can make you giggle at times. The sense of scale in the game is very cool all you progress with the size of you Katamari the camera seamlessly moves back. The story line is broken up by levels each one gives you a size to meet in a certain amount of time but more than likely once you get the hang of the controls you'll meet your goal the first time. Also you'll have some levels that are set for you to only pick up certain items for example there is a level where you have to pick up crabs and instead of size being what matters it's the amount of crabs you rolled up.

The music in this game is just as memorable as the storyline. The main theme some for the game is a catchy easy to get stuck in you head theme song where the only lyrics are La-la-la-la-lalalala-la-la-Katamari Damacy anf it is very cute. But the in game songs range from full instrumental to techno beat Japanese songs all with a Katamari theme and each one will get stuck in your and believe me it's a very good thing!

The only real downside to the game is it's length while you can very easily complete every level in a day there are some goals you'll wanna meat. For example you can try to pick up every item in the game and in 3 levels if you get your Katamari to a certain size you'll unlock an eternal mode where you can roll all you want which is great for just chilling with the game. You'll probably replay each level to break records but after a while once you've done everything it can get a tad old but it's just so much fun you'll just end up wishing for more variety. There is also a fun multi player mode but does not really add much to the game but it's fun if you have friends who would rather play than watch. Over all if you're looking for something new, weird, and tons of fun you could not go wrong with Katamari Damacy.
