Bad controls.

I bought a used dreamcast a while ago for three reasons: Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia and Jet Grind Radio.
Shenmue alone made me thank god for the day I decided to get a dreamcast, Skies was also a terrific game that I'm glad I got to play but Jet Grind Radio... a whole different story.
I wanted to love this game, I watched videos of it on Youtube and thought man this game looks so cool! and it's perfect for me because I love Tony Hawk and SSX.
I was wrong.
Up until the moment I started playing I still thought this is one of the most awesome games ever released, it had so much style, I just loved it and wanted to start playing and never stop.
Then I begun actually playing and I got frustrated pretty fast, at first I thought I'm just not used to the dreamcast controller, but as I kept playing I realized that it's not the controller, the game just has crappy controls.
The aim in this game is to tag (spray paint) buildings, cars, etc. but the problem is that the same button that centers the camera behind you is also used for tagging, it feels really weird and it will make you bump into a lot of stuff.
Also it always felt like the controls were either too sensitive or not responding, it was never somewhere in the middle.
When you try to grind over a rail you need to let you character land on the rail, there's no grind button, this is also very annoying because sometimes you'll begin grinding without even wanting to and in other times you'll need to jump from rail to rail but you'll miss the second rail because you thought you've got it but apparently the game didn't think so.
I tried liking this game, I kept trying to like it over and over until I finally stopped denying the fact that this game will never be nearly as good or as addicting as Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
You might be thinking that I'm just whining because I was no good at this game but I didn't even make it to the more difficult levels because I just couldn't bear the controls, I stopped playing after only about 2-3 levels.
If you find it for cheap then get it to see if maybe you like it but I doubt anyone who played THPS will find anything in this game that's better except the amazing graphics.
