It's not that bad...

User Rating: 6.5 | Chou Jigen Game Neptune PS3
This game can be fun to downright frustrating. If you have never played before, I suggest you wait till the game reaches a cheaper buy. As for me, I bought the game brand new, all $60 of it. A bit too much in hindsight. But this is a game with a pretty Special Edition case and booklet, but you buy it, play it, then want to punch a baby the next time you hear the nurse-like character Compa yell "Shoot!" while aiming her syringe (yes, syringe) at yet another uninteresting enemy. This is the first game I've played that has an embarrassing element to it. You hear the whining voice of the Compa, scream, "I don't like getting hurt!!!". The first time I heard that I looked over my shoulders to make sure no one was there, judging my abysmal taste in games. The dungeons are the same maps used again and again but new items in there to make them "different." Now I said earlier it was fun. It remains appealing even as you flinch at another boob joke, sex innuendo, and blatant "fan service". The main character Neptune and the ongoing "console war" jokes and themes is what keeps the game going. She has some funny lines and has this "cutesiness" without being annoying. The battle system is fine. You have the turn-based style combat (which is a good thing) but the flow can be a bit choppy. It tries to be complex but it turns out pretty simple. The massive blow to the system though is the healing. They use a system of probability to them using healing items in the battle. Good luck trying to revive anyone without a lot of items! I have no idea who created that method, but I do know it is severely flawed. But even with the flaws I still found some enjoyment being a JRPG lover, but others that aren't will find themselves with a game that they have no idea what to do with. For a review though, the game falls short of great, without anyone or anything else to carry undivided attention to the 40 or so hours it demands.
