A very fun game that can be a bit difficult, but is always a fun multiplayer.

Hydro Thunder was just a plan fun game to play. I started playing in in the arcade, which was probably better than the console versions, but the console versions are still a lot of fun. This game is a boat racing game. That doesn't sound fun. But it does for boat racing what F-Zero did for car racing. I hate to say it this way, but it's just a more extreme version of boat racing. When this game was made, that was probably a cool way to put it. The game involves you racing on water through several different courses. The courses aren't very complicated at first, and are easy to get through. As the courses keep goin, they get increasingly difficult. Up to the last level which is stupidly hard, but still fun. Throughout the courses you can pick up boosts which help you gain speed and pass people and make jumps and other things like that. The game's graphics are very good for a N64 game. You don't really have to guess what things are you can make them out easy enough. As you go along in the game you unlock levels and new boats. The boats get faster as you unlock them, but the faster a boat the more difficult to turn the boat becomes. The levels become more complicated with more short cuts, thinner tracks, and more distractions in the background. The game isn't incredibly hard at first, but it builds as you go along. Anyone can beat the first few courses, but you really have to build your skill to continue in the game and to advance to the end. The game isn't very long. It's only about nine tracks with I think three secret tracks to unlock. But the levels are fun. There are nine boats with four more secret boats to unlock. So the game can get a bit repetative, but it is still a fun game to play, and it is probably only $10 at most used game stores. If you have a N64 and are into racing games, you'll probably like this game.
