Review on the single player campaign

User Rating: 8.5 | Halo 3 X360
After playing the first two Halo games and being disappointed by them, I was not excited when Halo 3 was announce. I remember being excited playing the first Halo game and then disappointment setting in, because I always thought the game was boring, too easy and the story to confusing. Till this day I do not know what the story plot has been about the trilogy of the Halo games. The only reason I wanted to play "the last and third entry" was because I believe in finishing a story to the end, even if I am not enjoying it. I know that I am known by my friends as a person that extremely hates Halo, and that is true. So when I decided to play Halo 3 I was not expecting much, except disappointment. Well I was wrong, after playing almost half way to the end I began to like and enjoy Halo 3. I cannot say the same about the the first two halo games.

Halo 3 was develop by "Bungie Entertainment" and an exclusive Xbox 360 game. When it was announce Halo 3 was suppose to be the last and closing chapter of the Halo video games. LIES! I say like because as I write this Halo 4 has been announce and not sure but I think it is still being develop b Bungie Entertainment.

Well back to my review. The game picks up right after the ending of Halo 2. Master Chief crash lands on some jungle world. Some marines find him, and that is where the first level begins, your primary mission is to rescue your fellow capture marines. Do not expect anything innovative about the game, it is practically the same Halo as the last, with slightly better graphics. The only memorable new material in Halo 3, were the vehicles, small jets, and my favorite opponent, the giant spider tank. The issue that has plague Halo since the first game is the story and is still present in Halo3. It is still confusing because I never quite understood it since the first game. But this time the story is not to complex, throughout the whole story campaign your primary objective is to find and rescue Kortana, a USB like drive, but with a hologram of a female. It also has the confusing story parts of the previous game. For some reason Humanity is fighting against two Alien Races. One Alien race is almost humanoid, they fight with their weapons and have their own "democracy", then theres the other Alien race that is called The Flood. The Humanoid Aliens fight against you, but for some reason some are fighting with you against a Higher up Alien that wants to wipe out humanity. The Flood are savage and are more brute in their fighting tactics, they will use weapons too, but they mostly come from the enemy they have just killed. The Flood for some reason fights against both Humans and the Humanoid Aliens, I still do not know why. In Halo 3 the Flood aliens are more crafted and detail, and theres new Flood aliens to shoot at. Expect some surprises from the Flood. The Controls are a little bit different because the 360 controller is a bit different from the first xbox, but it is not difficult once you learned them and get use to them. The Voice actors are great, and it is not their fault that the Halo story is confusing. The score is memorable, anyone who has played the Halo games with remember the Halo theme.

As for someone that never liked the previous Halo games I was surprises that I liked the third. I wished I could pin point what it was that I liked about the Third Halo entry, but it is a little bit of everything. I know that is not the story, something that is truly disappointing because I do like a good story on a Video Game. I always thought that the Halo games were too easy even on the hardest difficulty, not on this one expect to be challenge,in Halo 3 even on Normal difficulty. Something that players will like and I know I did were the Giant Spider Tanks that I got to fight. They require more then spraying it with bullets to fully destroy it. You have to get on a vehicle that has weapons, shoot the Spider Tanks legs, then when it is fully down get inside the tank to blow it up, Inside the Tank there are Aliens to stop you. Not a lot of this encounters are in the game but it is refreshing to fight the Spider Tanks because they are the only battles that require more than just shooting at to destroy your opponent. This is just me but I never thought the gun battles were as excited as the Call of Duty series and that remains true in Halo 3 but it has its moments. I really like the battles against the Flood aliens because this time they are more challenging, and I really like that they rely more Brute Force to kill you.

Now as I looked back at this review I am noticing that there was not a lot of features that made me enjoy a Halo 3 but just a handful of things, I thought there were more or it is probably me that I am forgetting a few features, but regardless it was a few features that made enjoy Halo 3. I think Halo is moving in the right direction now if Bungie or whoever is developing Halo 4 can just improve what made Halo 3 enjoyable, If they do that I might go out and buy Halo 4 when it releases.
