Awesome and addictive rythm game with funky peripheral to boot!

The Guitar Hero series is renowned for it's innovative gameplay and cool guitar controller but the first game is where it all started. Now anyone will know Guitar Hero's concept but if you don't here's the lowdown. Coloured notes scroll by and you match those coloured notes by pressing the buttons on the neck of the guitar controller and then strumming the strum bar with timing to get the note to play.

Now this game isn't easy if you think you can just stroll in there and start totally decimating the songs on Expert the game will beat you down and call you ugly. This game takes as much dedication as playing a real instrument as you must perfect your performance on Easy before your even going to survive on Medium. Even if you master the game you'll be likely to return to perfect high-scores and just to listen the awesome soundtrack.

Harmonix really struck the right chord (bad pun alert!) with the sound choice. They got some big names like Ozzy onboard but they also got some indie bands to play and while some deviants sound like a cat being beaten with a cheese grater (Made in Mexico anyone? Thought not) most of the bonus tracks are pure joy to listen to Even Rats is a calming and relaxing endavour. While The breaking wheel has a darker sound to it.

This game also scores points for being the perfect party game. No-one will be able to resist rocking out with that placcy guitar. Simply put this game is absolute genius and no doubt deserves all the attention it's been getting lately.
