What Gamespot Users have to say about NHL 2005

  • Rating:9.1

EA Sports. Is it in the game? NHL 2005 is a great hockey game but not free from problems.

As a big fan of both hockey and videogames, EA Sports annual series “NHL” has been a “must buy” every year since 2002. I also owned a few titles from the mid 90’s when they were topical, so I have had the chance to follo... Read Full Review

EA's NHL game is back with another successful period of hockey!

EA Sports lights it up in the 13th season of world championship hockey with EA Sports' NHL 2005. Delivering top shelf gameplay that captures the speed, finesse, and lighting-fast flow of pro hockey, NHL 2005 challenges g... Read Full Review

NHL 2005 not only hardly improves on last year's game, it takes away a lot of stuff which makes it not worth playing.

I have been a fan of EA Sports hockey games since they first came out on the SNES. I have bought every game, every year since 1994. This year's game is the most disappointing yet. I felt ripped off that I paid $50 for th... Read Full Review

EA dropped the ball on this one

In my opinion this is the worst one since 97. They took out create a player and could have left it in and had eye toy add you face in (gretzky 2005 is doing it). The graphics were so so and the game play just gets more... Read Full Review

    Realistic Interpretation of Defence

Complaints about tight defence overlook the fact that this is how the NHL is now played. Anyone familiar with the league, particularly during the playoffs, knows that as you cross the blue-line the defence tightens dram... Read Full Review

Not geat, but still the better game this year.

Now that there's not going to be a hockey season, hockey video game sales are probably going to go through the roof. Althought past EA NHL games have been fun, this years game seems very rushed and unfinnished is some pl... Read Full Review

Great game, much better than the review

For all of you who are complaining and whining that EA's NHL 2005 isnt good, or too hard and too many checks, this game is great. This is what real hockey is all about, fighting for every goal, actually having to work t... Read Full Review

Suffers from the Doom 3 illness. All graphics, no gameplay.

I consider myself as big a hockey fanatic as they come and this year isn't especially a good one for me and my fellow fans. As most Canadians know, the NHL and NHLPA are still trying to figure out how to share their mill... Read Full Review

A 7.9 rating for this game is laughable at best!

I will start by saying that Gamespot’s review of this game is laughable at best! I own both games and NHL 2005 kicks NHL 2k5's butt in every way imaginable. The graphics are far better....the sounds on the ice are far ... Read Full Review

    EA lost me forever...

I have been awaiting NHL 2005 release just to see if EA would put some efforts into it to take ESPN NHL2K5 Face-on and get back on top where they sat for almost 10 years. To my exact expectations, EA didn't do it any ... Read Full Review
