User Rating: 8 | Furi PC

Furi is a bullet hell/fighting style game where you play as a prisoner fighting adversaries or "guardians" for your freedom. It is a brief but exciting experience as you learn about each of the game's bosses and defeat them.

First off the gameplay, if you have played hack and slash style games you will be familiar with some of these mechanics. You will need to utilize shooting a gun, slashing, parrying and dodging in order to defeat bosses. Your timing has to be pretty precise otherwise you will get hit. This makes for some pretty intense fights that will require your full focus in Furi.

Secondly, the graphics. Furi has a clean and simple look, yet colorful. It's kind of artsy and it fits the general somewhat "poetic" narrative of Furi. Character models look great and nothing is really inconsistent in Furi, everything looks kind of like paper-mache. Almost like a retro game. Jaggies need not apply though.

The story is interesting in Furi but doesn't stray from the main point that you're a prisoner trying to gain freedom. With every section of the game you learn a short story of sorts about the next boss, usually how they got there, their background etc.

The soundtrack is absolutely epic and you can see the song's artist by pausing the game which I thought was pretty classy.

The game's difficulty you ask? It was not the hardest game but certainly not the easiest. I imagine if you don't have great reaction speed this might be a tough one though.

Overall, while Furi is great it left me wanting more. More boss fights. Deeper story development. Maybe some enemies to fight in between bosses or puzzles to solve? Something! I completed the game in a mere 7 hours but it was glorious.

Highly recommended.
