Yeah your right, I really like the idea of escaping form the evryday HEADACHE that life throws at you....SO its my escape so to speak...Its also the challange that games present that are highly addicting..... I have wrapped up 1000's of dollars in gaming, its an expensive hobby but one that always is rewarding
I game because its fun and its my reward for having to sit in school all day...i also like gettin to shoot people in the face (COD) and jumping off of a church steeple and into a little hay pile is always fun too (AC)
I could go out and start a fight with strangers instead if that would make the newspapers happy since my relaxing hobby is such an anti-social thing to be doing.

Great point, it does beat going out and dropping a fork load of money of alcohol and what not....Yeah gaming is one of the most misunderstood hobbies out there....
I grew up playing video games even though my mom tried her hardest to stop me. Now that I'm all grown up I get to game when I want with out the constant arguments as to why i dont want to go out practice, homework, trips. Besides, in my opinion I would much rather have my kid at home with his friends playing video games then out on the streets doing stupid crap.
It is just another passion of mine. Merely a hobby that has stayed with me since the day of glass bottled cola and will remain with me for many years to come.:P
I play because it's more fun than watching TV or a movie which other people choose to do instead of play games. I also like to game because it lets me do things that I don't get to do in everyday life (play a pro/college sport, save the day from terrorists, dice up a few ogres, etc).
I was raised with video games. My mother was a computer nerd. Now I only play, becase my friends play, and it kills boredom. Plus our gamepoint competition kinda makes it fun, like a high score.
Simple answer. Its a safe and extremely satisfying hobby. Sure it doesnt keep you in shape but for the most part it keeps you happy which is probably the most important thing in life. It can also sometimes be educational. People think all games are like GTA or Halo=Mindless.

meh. gaming sober get's kind of boring to be honest. Although I don't drink very often, having a few Caronas makes it 10+ better, imo. "Puffing the magic dragon" is great as well.
I game because it's an escape from the world around me, which I get pretty sick of sometimes. The same reason I watch a lot of movies and read books. Though, with video games it's a bit more of an escape because you get more involved in the story.
I like gaming because you can do basically anything in a video game. Almost everything that you wish you can do in real life can be done in a game. Like sports for example. If you suck at basketball, play some NBA 2K8 and smash someone online. Youre not crazy enough(no offense to anyone) to join the army, kill some people in Call of Duty 4. Playing video games is like one of the most entertaining things that you can do in my opinion.
Yep *Sigh* but yeah I do it because I love it, I have a great time, and its just a fun thing to do. In a few years gaming is going to be the new Television when T.V. first came out most people didn't have one and thought it was ridiculous, and now look at today people watch televison everyday probably for hours its funny that gaming gets such a bad rep because its more stimulating to the mind than T.V. is anyday because games are all about puzzles, and solving problems, but when you watch T.V. you just sit there and watch other people unfold a story, but in game its your story to unfold.
Its one of the only things Im really good at to tell the truth. Plus, Ive been doing it pretty much my whole life so I wouldnt even know how to stop. It makes me happy too :D

It's no more expensive than a $600 snowboard. Other hobbies can get quite expensive as well. Snowboarding gear alone costs me more than $1500. I've spent very little on gaming by grabbing up great deals, such as used games or brand new games on sale or ridiculously low prices. But I think I'll be a gamer for life, or at least until I'm 35 years-old or so. Besides work and social life, we have entertainment. Between movies, games, and other sports hobbies, I like to sit down and play some video games. If you think about it, they all balance each other out. It gives you something to do when you're not out there catching the waves, or working at your job or business. It is addicting. I guess I'll grow out of it when I do grow out of it. Only time can tell.
