man you guys must be newbies....cardinal rule number one# never have the Xbox 360 running verticalSlash653man you must be a noobie cause 360 runs perfectly fine standing up.
had mine standing up for over a year and i move and it back forth from 2 rooms all the time
I always change it up, sometimes it's vert sometimes it's horizontal, I only change it around if I have a disc spinning in the drive though, I hear that if you don't have a disc in the drive when you move it it effs up your xbox.childe_roland
Uhh its the other way around.
Moving your 360 while its on with a disc spinning inside will make the 360 leave a nice big circular scrath in the disc and render it useless.
Always move the machine when it is off and the disc drive is empty.
Oh and mine is vertical. It looks ckool and i have a cooler for it that holds it verticaly.
gotta a lay a curvy lady like that down
kambion313
LoL
Lay the xbox down. Gravity ensures no disc scratches. :P
[QUOTE="TopBossUltra"]Maybe you could cite a source for us if you're gonna call someone an idiot?Allin2911
He wrote you're not an idiot.
In saying that someone who heard you should lay them down is not an idiot he implies that all of the people who have them vertical are idiots.
I have opened my 360 up and cleaned it out....i wouldnt recommend placing the 360 vertical. the 360 has an exhaust metal ductwork in it that directs all air flow from the side opposite the hard drive (bottom if you stand up the system vertically) this will drastically choke off air flow getting in due to the duct work inside completely sealing against the system board....the vent holes all over the system pass no air because the fans in the back of the system are attached to the above stated duct work and sealed....i never put my 360 vertical due to the exhaust systems setup.
Standing. No scratches. No freezes. Less noise.
halo 3 and Mass Effect have never froze on me.
I do have the Elite tho..
Laying down for me, if you are like me and have pets, LAY IT DOWN!!! Pets do not care if your disks go bye-bye.... dang cats...zeroncali
 my friend had that issue with his ps2, cat just crashed right into it, it fell bottom up, with a game running, made some ugly noises... yeah XD as for me, i keep mine laying down, i dont play more than like 2 hours at a time and i haven't had any issues since last month when i got it. plus i dont really have any room to put it vertical, unless vertical right on my carpet... or on top of my TV vertical.

Horizontal all the way. When the 360 is running, it runs hot. So hot that the pins and the soldering connect the CPU with the motherboard can move. Gravity will gradually pull the pins down if the 360 is running vertically. Eventually, the pins will lose contact with the motherboard and you'll get the Red Ring of Death. But if it's horizontal, nothing will happen. If anything, the pins will heat back into place, making your 360 even less prone to the RROD.
just woundering where he gopt that info from
the system knows what way you have your xbox if you look at the lights tyhey chage depending how you have your xbox
hopefuly i have that 60mm chip in mine xbox it says it was made 08/07 whitch means august 2007 for those slow ppl

wishthey would show some hard facts what works the best
thanks to every one post be nice if you put how long you had your system

Actually, it's the GPU that comes apart, the CPU is what heats it up pretty badly. ATI engineers told microsoft they needed more airflow, but Microsoft design engineers (not the technical ones, the doofuses who thought the white box was pretty as it is) said they can't allow it.
I guess though what is said here does make some sense. Maybe thats why mine worked well, I kept it flat for a while, perhaps "tempering" the glue that holds the components in place.
00 sounds reasonable
whats a gpu and cpu lol
k2theswiss
GPU = Graphics Processing Unit (graphics card)
CPU = Central Processing Unit
he wrote me back and he said he had 3360
and
he oped them up and he notice diferent
k2theswiss
What was the difference?
