If you're so concerned about global warming and saving the environment then you should focus on the real problems. United States is not the number one producer of pollution on the planet. If you want to put the blame in the right place then look at China and some of the other economic developing nations. They're generating way more than us. Oh, and let's look at the Amazon where deforestation is happening at an alarming rate to generate more open land so 1) cattle can graze so we can eat more hamburgers and 2) more crops can be made to export.

And here we sit in front of a computer and argue about a little orange light to help save the planet? Amazing, simply amazing.

Not entirely. The problem is that humanity only tends to learn a hard lesson through their mistakes. And we're slowly starting to get it. Sooner and hopefully not later change will come. Hopefully not at the expense of the planet. Global change can only come with a global effort and as you can see there is no global consensus about much. We're a fragmented planet with fragmented ideals and self-centered aspirations.

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]The 360 uses 1.8 wattsclyde46

now times that by how many hours its in use for.

Then consider you are billed by megawatts... which is more than a kilowatt... which is 1000 watts. Consider that you're billed less than a dollar per megawatt and you'll have to decide:

is getting up to unplug and replug my 360 worth me saving $0.50 on my monthly power bill thats like $60-300 depending on what month of the year it is?

I doubt this is true of a toaster with no power indicater lights or anything

You'd be wrong. He's right, having anything plugged in when not in use is wasting energy, no matter how little it is.

Also if you don't pay your power bill long enough, the electric company will help you reduce your amount spent on power as well 8)
