I've had my 360 Pro since just before thanksgiving 2006, and havent had a RROD yet. The worst thing I've had is a disk read error or unreadable disk while in the middle of playing either NCAA 08 or Madden 08 I forget which one. But I own COD4, RB6 Vegas, Halo 3, Bioshock, etc and havent had any disk error problems. But after reading for days now how many people are on there 3rd, 4th, even 9th xbox, thats INSANE!!. Now I'm scared to even turn my 360 on anymore. Is there anyone out there like me that has had there 360 for a year or more and hasnt had a RROD?? Instead of reading about who HAS had a RROD, I want to read about who HASNT had it so maybe I can feel a little better

thanks

I wonder if the RROD has alot to do with how much and often you play it. For example I am 29 and have a job and a 5 year old daughter to take care of, so I'm playing games maybe a few hours every other day when I have a new game, but then I might not play it for a week or so when I've beaten the games I have or have other things to do. Compared to a junior high or HS kid who can play 3-5 hours every day after school, then 6-10 hours on sat and another 6-10 hours on sun, maybe that has to do with getting a RROD alot faster then others

I have a launch console that has been played moderately heavy and I have yet to have the RROD, but I did get the unreadable disc error and I am about to send it to MS. I am betting that the system I get back won't be my own and that it will RROD on me within a month.

I also have a launch console from October of '05 and have never gotten the RROD. The biggest problems I had was the system freezing up while playing Bioshock, but I'm pretty sure it was the game and not my system, because none of my other games would cause my 360 to freeze. Speaking of the Bioshock issue, did they ever release a patch to fix that problem?

ive had my 360 since oct. of 06 and no RROD. now i recently purchased this intercooler from best buy and my 360 is running alot cooler. my disc are no where near as hot when i take them out like the used to be. the intercooler was on $25. goes on back and has 3 little fans that pull the heat out. goes on back of console.

Find a website that explains the causes of the RROD.. it's not how long you've owned it, or how much you played it... it more complex than that... I had mine a little over a year and I had gotten the RROD I got it fixed though

Got my system last summer, no problems. I use it very often, and my furnace even blows hot air directly onto it from across the room (not too far away) and still not a single problem.. but this is the Elite model, so who knows, maybe that means something.

im pretty sure those intercoolers greatly increase the chances of you gettin the rrod, back when they first came out theres was topics on here like everyday about those things ruining systems, u might wanna take it off

From what I've heard, the RROD is caused by overheated components becoming un-soldered from the system board. For instance the GPU, which in the original configuration didn't have a heat sink. I've also heard that the CPU becoming un-soldered could cause the issue.

Purchased on 12/22/2005. No RRoD, no disk read errors, no diggity.

But almost every friend of mine with one has replaced it at least once. Guess I won the lottery.

They probably weren't getting the RROD. They were getting the AV Red light error.

I work at a local video game shop, and I can assure you, the problems with the 360 are NOT exagerated. Not a day goes by that we don't have at least one angry customer and two angry phone calls about the 360. Its not always RRoD, sometimes its just disc read errors, tray sliding issues and such, but the problems are plentiful.

Not a word of a lie, we've got a stack of about 4-5 bricked 360s sitting in the shop at any given time, two of which were our own store units that RRoD'd. And again, not talking from any other standpoint other than reliability, but the 360 has been nothing but trouble while we very rarely have any issues with either the Nintendo Wii or Sony PlayStation3.

The really sad part is, its not like people are having a problem, sending it away, and then having no troubles. We continue to have feedback about how people got thier systems back only to brick again within a few hours/days.

The problems definately seem to be decreasing a bit lately, but they're still plentiful enough to be considered an issue, and they're still having alot more frequent issues than the Wii & PS3 are.

My launch unit almost made it 2 years. It got the RROD last September. I got a refurb and it died in 2 months. I'm on number 3 now and it seems ok (*knock on wood*).

I got the RRoD on my launch premium console almost a year after having it and really it only happened cause I played the hell out of it to see if it would RRoD considering my friend's did a couple months before mine when we got them at the same exact time and place, and as he played more then I did on a regular basis so I knew it was only a matter of time
before it happened to me. My replacement worked fine never RRoD after having for 6 months before selling it to get and Elite.

My Elite has still never RRoD and same goes for H3 LE console.

Pretty much. Over time, the heating and cooling of major components, warps the motherboard and eventually contact is lost.

The GPU always had a heatsink...it's recently been upgraded. It's still to be seen whether or not the Falcon models have anywhere near the same proposed failure rate. It's too soon to tell at the moment though.

I bought one off my friend at work and it happened like 2 weeks later so I gave it back to him, lol but this time around I got one off my brother because he was in need of some money and he's had his since release and nothings gone wrong yet, it's loud though, so I'm feeling it will only be a matter of time.

I definitely hears you on this subject bra. I've had my 360 for 14 mos. and I dread the day to see the bull's eye hemorrhage. However I pour the best and let it bubble, meaning be very patient to expect the inevitable and hold faith that it never happens till the Xbox 720 debute. aiiiiiight mang.

My roomate's Elite hasn't RROD'd yet, and he's used it quite heavily since he got it in July. My 360 RROD'd on the launch day of Halo 3, but I had played the crap out of it in the preceding months. Since then, nothing. Even Rock Band marathons haven't hurt it.
