Is Anybody Else having problems with Xbox live right now?

***THE REASON WHY XBOX LIVE IS DOWN***

Either PS3 fanboys are hitting us....or..

Xbox is resetting the saints row gang stats and other things...i heard they are doing the forza 2 leaderboards aswell because of the speed glitch and all so they are just resetting things and just making a few changes...Everything will be fine in a couple of hours...hours is awhile without live i know....so im going to watch tv and hope xbox live is back in a few hours.

I was swearing so much...until I knew there was a problem on live.

My profile (gamertag) got corrupted...two times so I had to recover it (it took ages).

I just bought a new console after I sent my old console out for repairs so I haven't been playing for about 3 weeks and now this...aarrggh!

I haveheard of a similar problem, someone disconnecting from game servers persistently.
I don't have a problem logging on Xbox Live right now.

Maybe they're adding dedicated servers :D [ok, maybe not ... but I can dream].

Should be back up within a few hours or so, just as usual.

The problem varies.

Some can't connect, others get disconnected from live, others can't download, ect....

I'm glad it's not just me. I had recovered my Xbox Live account onto a friend's console, and I was trying to get it back on my 360, but it kept telling me Xbox Live could not be reached, but when I tested my connection, it got through fine. I got less worried once Xbox.com wouldn't load, as they both tend to go down at the same time, and now I guess we just have to wait.

I called Microsoft, the guy said it's a "Unscheduled update". He said it's not really a update but thats what they call it. Something about checking the servers. So, the guy said they are tryin to get back the servers up and running.

Can confirm the same isssue here in Japan. In my case though, I've been seeing this freezing since a few days back, gradually... first the laggy xbox dashboard if you log in your xbox live profile... Now its freezing up a LOT, even on the dashboard... and the download rate is SO slow.

I doubt this is something microsoft anticipated... Probably an excursion.... anyway, no reason to panic, hiccups happen all the time... especially with a something as massive as xbox live... give it a few hours... it'll recover....

I am having the same problems you guys are having. Freezing, Gamertag taking long to sign in, Randomly getting disconnected. The guy said XBL might take a day to be back up and running properly. Im hoping its a few hours and not a day.

I just tried about 5 minutes ago, and it worked fine... weird. Haven't tried any games though.

You deleted it or does it say corrupted...coz my gamertag got corrupted twice (today) and I had to recover it.

It's best you wait until live is up and then recover your gamertag.

The following is from the xbox.com website

1a) It is a Worldwide problem

b) However it is NOT effecting everybody XBL member in the world

2) It causes failures with:

a) Signing in

b) Downloading content

c) Using the new MSN feature and signing into the new MSN feature

3) The updates that are being made to "fix" the problem, doesn't fix everyones/all the problems and more tend to arise before the next update

4) When people do sign in and check their friends list every name says "offline" next to it with no other detail

5) The Xbox 360 freezes when you try to:

a) check a profile

b) check messages

c) check your friends list

d) send messages

e) send (video) chat invites

6) Updates are given over frequently (e.g. I putagamein and get an update, I will not get another update unless it is a genuine update OR I then put in another game, when I put in that game I get an update, I then put in the original game (within the same hour) and still get an update). Every time a different game in an update is given

7) You select sign in and it fails, when connection is tested everything is good but, sometimes sign ins take multiple attempts

8 ) I have heard that XBL is undergoing some sort of maintanence at the moment that will last until approximately 1800 hrs GMT tonight (that's UK time).

I keep getting disconnected from live whenever I'm downloading stuff from the marketplace,

anyone else experienced this?

it's really annoying coz I've got tons to download (around 5GB) and I have to keep my console on and keep signing in whenever I get disconnected, grrr!
