I have gone through 4 RRoD and 1 Disk Drive malfunction. So 5. I just bought an Elite back in May/June, and as of sept 12 RRoD. It was a new model to, new chip and all( ieven checked the manufactured date). I still Love Xbox games, but the hardware SUCKS. I have 8 friends with xbox360s in the town i live in, ALL of them have had to replace them AT LEAST once. My friend up the street bought and elite(hey that rhymes) and it didnt work out of the box, took it back and got a new one, and 1 week later it RRoD'd.
YEAH XBOX360 GAMES,
BOO XBOX360 HARDWARE
only 1 and that was after 6 months but it took a week but im about one out of 3 years done with my warnety though.Fodpea
Something stupid & you gotta watch for, when you send your console in for repairs & they send you a different console back you gotta check your warrany status on xbox.com. They will not automatically transfer your Extended Warranty over to the replacement console. You got to send a letter requesting that it be changed everytime you get a different console back from the repair center.
Zero. If you know how to open an XBOX 360 up yourself and do some things to it, the chances of you getting the RROD or anything like that is very slim.
I opened my XBOX 360 up, replaced the X-Clamps, which is what makes the XBOX 360 overheat and give you the RROD, with bolts, washers, and thermal paste, which prevents the RROD.
Don't know what Microsoft were thinking when they put the X-Clamps in the 360...
I also replaced the actual outer casing with a "Dark Knight" case mod, and it looks brilliant.
Another thing that I did to prevent any problems is that I replaced the original fan with a Talismoon Whisper Fan. This fan provides something like 40% more air flow but is 7% quieter. It also has blue LED's on the fans, which look so awesome.
So yeh, I may not have a warranty, but I have had no problems at all with my XBOX 360 so far and even if I do, I know how to open it up and fix it myself.
Also, if anyone wants to see pictures, just check out my profile on here. I have some in one of my recent blog posts.
