We all heard it :- Horizontal is bad for heating !

Vertical scraches disks and brakes them !

So the Question is ................How do you put yours and for how long have you been useing this way ?

vertical, heat dispersion is great and i havent scratched a disc, i think the key is having it on a stable surface that wont rock every time u walk in the room

Vertical, haven't scratched a disc, more room for it to get air, better coolings, looks better, stable surface so it's safe, and it saves space I've had it since April

Horizontal since I bought it roughly a year ago

We all heard it :- Horizontal is bad for heating !Bahaa3000

Isn't that the problem with having it vertical? AFter all vertical blocks the vents at the bottom which is the biggest inlet for air when standing vertical.

Horizontal is the best, my friend broke a disc by putting his 360 vertically.

Vertical.

It's a launch system that had been horizontal until it RROD'd early this year. It's been vertical since I got it back in March.

I have mine horizantal. yes it heats up, but It's better than risking the "tip over" everyone is so paranoid about.

Vertical, I would rather take the risk of it falling over than deal with the inconveniences of overheating and freeze ups due to the horizontal position. Why would I want to block off the vent holes on the left side of the 360? well I used to and had nothing but lockups. Vertical works fine for me, but to each their own. Maybe when the Jasper comes out i'll put it horizontal due to cooler chips, but till then it's gonna have to be vertical for me.

Vertical- I have had it for over a year, My 360 has never broken and will without a doubt will not.:)

Its in a nice open space. It gets all the cooling it needs. I blow the dust off just in case. I play it for 3+ hours a day in the summer, too bad I can't play as much during school though.

Horizontal, two and a half years. Did have a general hardware failure, but don't think it was due to over-heating.

More worried about it tipping over.

Vertical.

Had it this way since I bought it, 15 months ago. After testing it for over 2 hours horizontally, I decided it'd be best off on its side. The motherboard side stays much cooler. Fact.

I've pretty much always used horizontal, never had any real problems with it. I think I tried vertical once and it started making uh-oh noises, so I switched it back.

keep it horizontal and raised on a cardboard box lid. i think it gets plenty of ventilation but even if vertical was better i wouldnt take the chance of it tipping over.

horizontal - i keep it on top of this box thing with holes in it so the air can go all around it. the heat thing isn't an issue now that ms is finally doing something to keep them cooler. i used to have it vertical till i put a disc in there and it rumbled loudly, never does that horizontally.

vertical, because i bought that cooler dock thing, its really all about keeping it stable, but if you can put it up out of the way or if you have pets or something, id say go horizontal, but ive been doign vertical since i got it, 2 years, looks cooler too
