I like the idea of the active reload as far as you are physically reloading your gun and you can do it faster then other people and vicaversa plus you can screw up and jam the gun is cool.However the idea that it some how makes you bullets magically more powerful is a little lame.

I like the concept of the active reload since it's kind of a mini-game, but I would have the "sweet spot" randomly change along the horizontal bar. This would make it much more of a challenge.

4player campaign.I agree and think every game should have that and 1000gp attainable in campaign ie.COD4

don't like the "in" ideas. It's gears, we don't need females. There's no need for night vision or flashbangs, we have COD4 for that. Chaingun? how would that be used?

They need to get rid of the host factor

MP bots (Epic made UT2004 and its godly bots, no excuse why they can't do it here).

4-player co-op (logical next step).

More guns/enemies (Anti-tank missile launcher, Locust flamethrower soldiers, etc)

Longer levels (10-20 acts anyone?).

More allies/enemies in missions (Fight with other COG units against hordes of Locust).

No achievements in multiplayer, keep them in SP only (reduce boosting). I'm surprised game devs like Ubisoft and Bungie haven't figured this out yet. Infinity Ward nailed this.

I think the only thing missing in the first Gears was a plot. :p I think to really get me into the series they need a better story then "go down the hole and kill the bad guys" as gameplay goes, the first Gears was perfect.

The hammer of dawn is the only interesting weapon in the damn game, everything else is blande been done a million times piles of crap.

I loved almost everything of the first Gears:

The active reload system

Same button for cover and run (I got used really fast)

The car level was fun

Tha lancer + chainsaw!!!!!! SUPERB!

What I want for Gears 2:

A longer game (20 hrs or more)

No hosting for multiplayer

More cool weapons

I loved the Hammer of Dawn, but some boss battles without it would be really fun

More enemies on the same time

A harder difficulty setting

And, of course, some histoy/plot.
