For the past 3 years Ive been working on a time machine ,day and night. It was almost complete , but then somthing wonderful happened i turned 18. So here are some pointers of what not to do when your asking your mom if you can buy it.

-Don't suck on your thumb.

-Don't bring a hookerhome and slap her around your mom.

-Don't steal a car and blame the dog.

-Don't turn your house into a drug house.

-Don't talk with a Russian accent.

-Don't wear gang colors in your house (don't matter how cool you look with a badanna on).

-Don't say any bad slang around her, in fact say g@ystuff like josh jee.

-And finally make a your best puppy dog face at her

Don't know why you even bother, it's just mindless killing and feeling 'powerful' over a videogame... Its fun, but if your parents care about what you play you should be thankful.

For what I've read a LOT of people here is underage and sadly the way of thinking of many just gives the ESRB more credit for trying to do something about violent games, it's not because you're stupid like someone said, but hopefully someday you will realize that you have to live your age, because when you're older you might miss those things that you did when you were younger.. People tend to live things that doesn't match their age and all of a sudden, they realize that they didn't enjoyed a lot of things that could've been enjoyed being done at the right time.

Oh and just to clarify, I do enjoy games with violence, but its better to play them when you are mature enough to understand that a game is not suitable for anyone..

I personally commend your parents. I think people should respect the rating system. It's there for a reason. Some people on this thread said that it's the kids responsibility to know it's not real, and that it's not the video games fault. I do not have any scientific eveidence, but I know that when you are a teenager you have all these hormones stirring up in your body and the brain is probably adjusting to the changes, which can make younger people more vulnerable to what they see. Let your brain acclimate to the new conditions for a while, and then when you're 17 get the game or whatever will be equivilant to GTA in that time.

Ok so when some one becomes a teen they become someone totally different because of "hormones".....................ok know wonder you dont have any evidence to back it up.

when i became a teen i was the same person that like videogames its just that i started liking girls also i dindt start thinking games were "real" because of hormones i can tell you that, i think you argument is some what flawed.

Just ask them, if they say no they say no. You can't help how old you are, and is it really worth breaking their trust and pissing them off just to play 1 videogame?

If you think the answer to that question is yes...then you need to rethink your life a little bit.

TheSystemLord1

not to offend anyone here but its a one in a life time game, waiting 2-3 years to play it is long and painful, i couldnt live with that ROFL

Until the next GTA comes out, then you can pick up 4 and play them both? Or wait for the inevitable Triple Pack that will come along? Once in a lifetime? I think not.

why the hell would you wanna wait??? obviously you're not a big GTA fan

I turn 15 the 1st of September. And when you guys bash some people for playing games not for there age group, remember that not all of them are 12 year olds.

TheSystemLord1

12, 14, it doesn't matter. You are a product of the age you live in. Various instances have popped up with kids your age causing violence and blaming it on videogames as a way to get out of trouble, or at least shift the blame. If your parents won't let you play it, and you can't buy it, then there is no hope for you. I say this to most everyone who complains about age limits; if video games mean that much to you...just move out. There are plenty of construction jobs out there that will support your hobby.

No the parents blame it on the games,

The Mature Rating Is There For A Reason..... So Little Kids Like You Arent Able To Buy The Game. Once Your 18 And You Grow Up A Little Bit And Your Voice Is Deep And Doesnt Sound Like Mickey Mouse And Your Acctually An Asset To The Gaming World Then You Can Buy This Game But Right Now While Your Voice Sounds Like A 9yr Old Pre Pubecent Girl And All You Do Is Get People Aggrivated By Talking A Whole Bunch Of Sh*t That You Would Never Be Able To Back Up In Real LifeYou Cant Get It SoPlease Do Everyone A Favor And Dont Get This Game..

Dude your parents actually give a **** about you, be happy with that. If they don't think you're mature enough for the game, then you're most likely not mature enough for the game. Kudos to your parents for actually being informed!

Oh and another thing...to whoever it was that posted something along the lines of"Too bad you don't live in my state, I'd buy it for you." You're a ****! How do you think it's your right to judge what another person's kid can play? I don't understand people at all sometimes.

Again be happy that your parents actually care.

I believe your argument is flawed.

With all the school shootings and suicides over the years, certain content doesn't belong in the hands of certain people. Studies have shown that video games not only provide people with a way to relieve stress and anger, but it also teaches them, mainly young adults like yourself, how to vent your anger. Mis guided youth can take a fictional concept and easily apply it to real situations.

Children do it all the time with the bible. It's where hate for homosexuals and other differences come from. That's why we have a rating system. It's unfortunate that that's all we have. We need legislation to control it, and we need parents, like this guys parents, to be more active in what their kids are playing.

This way, the industry isn't censored, and parents can't blame the industry when their kid does something harmful to society. As a gamer, you should see that not all of the content available to us is good for everyone. You may not want to shoot your school mates, but someone else might. When that someone else does, where is the blame going to go?

As gamers, all of us, we have a responsibility to support the industry so that it doesn't become a blind vice like cigarettes and alchohol. This way, we can preserve the future of gaming, and reap the benefiets from the potential of unlimited growth. As the industry gets older, so do we gamers. Eventually, you young ones will understand why you shouldn't be playing GTA and GOW when you're 12 years old.

My parents had a couple over from their church (I'm an Atheist, but they're devout christians) and they had a 9 year old kid. He knew I had an xbox 360, and asked if he could play some games. I told him the only game I'd let him play was Forza Motorsport. He called me a **** ran downstairs and cried to his parents that I wouldn't let him play. When I explained, they told me they let him play anything he wants. I told them that they're part of a growing problem. Then the kid cursed at me (his mother slapped him) and threatened to chainsaw me like how he chainsaws the guys in GOW.

Younger gamers need to bepatient.

Thank god I don't have to deal with that. I'm 15 on xmas day and I can get whatever game I want. My mum bought me San Andreas from Gamestation when I was 12. The cashier said it contained violent content and bad language and my mum said I've probably seen it before and bought it for me.

The first18 game I had was perfect dark when I was like 9 or 10 or something. All I know is my uncle and dad played half of it and decided it would be ok for me because I already had goldeneye and it was just like it with more blood.

But then again my mum letsme stay out late whenI go to dances and parties. She's not strict at all.

Out of my 5 360 games 2 are rated 18. I have tons of 18 films. The only thing my parents wouldn't let me do is watch porn and take drugs and smoke and stuff like that.

For the recordI'm perfectly normal. Straight A student, good at sports and havea good social life. I've always been pretty mature so violent games haven't affected me at all.

But you sound like you are too immature to get GTA 4. If your parents don't want you to have it and you go behind their backs, their just gonna think your more immature and still wont let you get games like this when you're 16. If you're that desperate, play it at a friend's house.

Well, if they don't like it and saw 'Hot Coffee' news and all that. Well, I'm sure they won't like GTA IV. Let 'em see the new trailer, that'll make them change their mind!

And how did you get away with God of War or Gears of War? Whichever one, I don't want to check your profile.

To those who are saying that you need to be the age required to play a game that's rated M, you're all wrong. It all depends on how your parents raise you. When I was 9 years old I was playing Duke Nukem 3D and my parents didn't care that I was playing it. That game had it all... blood, limbs, nudity, swearing, etc. But yet I turned out fine and I'm now 19 years old. Hell, I even saw my first rated R movie when I was 9.... sucks for those of you whose parents try to control your lives. Sad, but true.

Also, like another kid said... I am a normal guy who does normal things just like everyone else. I thank my parents for having let me choose what I wanted and didn't want to do instead of them doing it. When a kid goes crazy like the one that shot up the mall in Omaha recently, it's all his parents (or lack thereof) fault. No one elses. That's why parents blame the video games for whatever stuff happens with their child, so that they can have a scapegoat and not take the blame themselves and show how bad their parenting really is.

Perhaps this is a little unhelpful, but should kids really be getting adult rated games? I don't much agree with censorship, so I would leave it up to your parents. I had the same problems when I was 11/2/3 or however old you are.

While having to wait can be a pain, you might just find that you having to wait might just not be such a bad thing. For starters, you pretty much gotta stab somebody for a copy now if you want to play, and if the multiplayer is as great as people are saying then i have a feeling that people will be playing for a good long time.

If your parents don't want you playing the game, then you won't be playing it. If you really think you are so mature that you don't need your parents guidance, then move out and start living on your own. You will have to get a job to pay for rent, food, utilities, taxes, and maybe a few dollars left over for GTA IV. If not having GTA IV is really this big of a problem for you, help is needed. Grow up, this whiny attitude is why your parents can't trust you to play a game rated M for mature.

Just buy the game without them knowing man...nobodies gonna ask you if you're 17 years old, as long you're a teenager...the games 2 years old, store clerks have forgotten about this game.:P
