I would switch harddrives if there is a way to transfer data. wile315I'm pretty sure Xbox 360 hard drives are sold with a transfer kit for all your saves, and media. Anyway, I do wish I had a larger hard drive. It seems like 20GB isn't enough. I'm constantly having to delete things to make room for newer stuff. The cost of a 120GB hard drive is a bit harsh. $140.... that could be a few other games, or put towards something more useful, or just saved for when I really need it. But oh well. I should be fine I guess, as long as I can continue to delete whatever else is not needed. I highly doubt I'll use the netflix service on my Xbox 360, and I'm fine with just using my disk to play games, like I always have been. Still, it would be such a nice luxury to be able to have so much space.
i swapped my PS3 hard drive because it was affordable and relatively easy. I only have a 20 GB 360 hdd and will not swap it beceause Microsoft's prices for 360 hard drives are ridiculous. Also, as is typical for Microsoft, I have to buy the 360 hard drive and not whatever hard drive i want.
That said, I won't be needing it. I do download Arcade games, but as everyone knows, they take no space anyway. I already have real Xbox Originals and i don't use netflix anyway (have a video store down the street). I also have no intention of installing my games. I bought a new hard drive for my PS3 not because i wanted to. I did so because of all those annoying mandatory installs. If I hated them when they were mandatory, why would I take them when they're optional?
lol my 2 year warranty never ran out so i might just use it to switch 360's187Mobster
generally they run out after 2 years
I am going to up my hard drive space on the 360 but I'm not buying one of the actual 360 hard drives. I'm just going to use my external hard drive for it since it works just as well.nickdastick
You can use an external hard drive through the 360's USP port to save games? Does it really work? If so then that's a great idea.
you know ms lets you use external usb hard drives with the 360 right???
I use a Western Digital 500gb external usb drive and it works great with most game saves all videos, xbla, and demo's

Do tell. Provided it isn't illegal. o_0
And how come this is a practice approved by Microsoft? I thought they would be more keen to getting their eyeballs ripped out of their sockets than allowing people to not spend money on their stuff.
Edit: If this is true I'm so getting a big ass hard drive.
I'm not too bothered by it, to be honest. I only have a 20GB thought so it would be good to have more memory but I'm not bothered enough to spend £100 or something to increase the memory. Plus, I don't plan to save my games to the hard drive, the loading time doesn't bother me and I'd rather have all the free space I can get.

As far as I know external drives are read only when connected to the 360. That's great for pictures, music and movies, but makes it impossible to use the external in the manner djjman says he does without some third party work around. Maybe they changed it in an update or something, I don't know. I highly doubt it though.I am going to up my hard drive space on the 360 but I'm not buying one of the actual 360 hard drives. do you mean you save actual xbox 360 downloads. or just music and games that you have stored on your external hard drive.
Cuz id like to be able to save my gamertag and such on an external hard drive.
no, i'm not going to install any games. i can deal with the load times that r already there, i'm not going to buy a hard drive to do that. unless microosoft desides to be mean and like make it so loading times r longer :P iam2green
it's not just the loading time's that will be fixed..
texture pop ups like what shown in gears of war and mass effect will also happen less.
