Halo Mod Updates Visuals

Halo lovers out there may like this. A group of modders have come out with a mod for the PC version of the original Halo which updates the graphics. The video switches up from showing original graphics as well as the modded graphics for comparison purposes.

I'm watching this and all I could think about is how the PC version had a fuel rod gun. We had to wait for Halo 2 to get that :(

It looks like the modders did a better job than 343 at updating the graphics for Halo CE :P

That makes me think of Call of Duty. That kill Streak that gets you a nuke in MW2 was in MW1 on PC as a mod well beforeMW2 was announced. Gotta love modders.

You can use an Xbox controller for many games. Steam listed 126 games as having full controller support and 413 as having partial controller support. If a game doesn't officially support a controller you can use software such as Xpadder to force it.

PC Gaming doesn't require nearly as powerful a system as people would like you to believe. Any idea what model yours is ?

Meanwhile my brother's laptop can use some of those super HD photorealistic texture packs without much lag :P

If they did it would decimate the DLC marketplace and Sony and Microsoft would never allow that. Why pay for DLC when Joe Blow from his basement is putting out better stuff. 

It's amazing how people can single handily make games look better than their sequels. Like Sonic's video of Oblivion.:P

DLC doesn't sell nearly as much as on consoles. PC is a much more open marketplace. They couldn't even charge us for Live because barely anyone paid for it. PC gamers have been so used to free patches and updates and content like mods that getting us to pay for it is difficult. It's not that were cheap, we spend boatloads on games each year, but it's that PC gamers are much less likely to pay for things that were once free without a damn good reason.

Take The Witcher for example. CD Projeckt Red has given us so much free content for that game, one of their patches for Witcher 2 was 8GB because it added in so much.  It was just a bug fix patch, it actually added things to the game for us, quests, characters, etc.

 On consoles users have never gotten free stuff like that so making them pay for online and DLC isn't a foreign concept.

Do you mean on PC ? The sound of the collective PC gaming community  laughing at once at the attempt would be deafening. Nothing can be controlled on PC. It's futile to try. Publishers make more money when they are nice to us.

Microsoft would attempt it if these rumours are true.:lol:

Sadly issues like this will never change on consoles. If anything they will get worse, especially if Microsoft makes profit on the Xbone. 

I don't see how they could. I think they were last this generation, despite Sony having a one year delay and Nintendo a two year delay. With all this new crap more people are just going to switch. I doubt the Xbox One will sell more than 70+ million units in it's lifespan like the 360 did, and it won't even touch the 120+ million the Wii managed, or the 150 million the PS2 did. I think PS3 is 80+ million now.

Those numbers aren't exact, but I tried to get close to what I remember seeing in system wars.:P

I actually just read the other day that the 360 had a little bit more sales than the ps3 and the wii was too far ahead for any of them to catch up :P

I would think Sony is leading Microsoft due to their support from Asia, but Microsoft also gets a lot of support from North America and South America. I make up all of their sales from the moon so Sony is winning there because I don't have a 360.:P
