Favorite Developer

I actually do not believe we have had this topic. Searching the board turned up no results.

Which developer is your favorite and why?

I value when writers use originality, and there isn't a more original developer I can name that is better than Team Ico. Other ones I considered were Konami, Valve and Square Enix.

Konami do nothing good apart from Metal Gear, so they don't merit a mention... And Square Enix are mostly terrible.

Valve are the best. TOPIC CLOSED :P.

Definitely Valve. Bethesda, Bioware, and Bungie also deserve mentions.

And Bethesda! Can't believe I forgot to mention them.

But he still contributes to Konami, and is part of the company. Nonetheless, I'll start referring to it as Kojima Productions to avoid confusion. I still like Konami though, they have made a astonishingly memorable amount of iconic games.

Valve and Team Ico are just so original though. Even though the Half-Life series involves aliens which is a predictable method now, it was a completely different viewpoint. And Portal is just completely originally, with a combination of unique story-telling and fascinating writing. Left 4 Dead's concept isn't as unique, but I haven't played it yet so I won't judge.

Having aliens is not something to hold against a game... By that same logic, Ico has castles which have been done before so it was unoriginal. Shadow of the Colossus had a horse, that's been in games before, so that was predictable.

Also name amazing Konami games, I wish to be enlightened.

Oh, I know. A game can still be unique while having unoriginal things in it. Zombies aren't original, but I find Dead Rising to be original due to the creativity of the weapons. It's just a personal opinion.

First one that came to mind was Silent Hill 2. Ape Escape was also fun.

Yes :P The thing is, that game had me looking forward to other games they would make.. which unfortunatley wont happen
